Unifying all 102 wards and communes in Ho Chi Minh City with letter names

HCMC - All 102 new wards and communes are named in letters, of which Saigon, Cho Lon, Gia Dinh are named for new wards in Districts 1, 5, Binh Thanh.

On the morning of April 18, at the 22nd thematic session, the 10th term Ho Chi Minh City People's Council officially passed a resolution approving the policy of rearranging commune-level administrative units.

According to the project that has just been approved, Ho Chi Minh City will rearrange 272/273 existing commune-level administrative units. In particular, Thanh An island commune (Can Gio district) is kept intact due to its special geographical and administrative factors.

After the reorganization process, the whole Ho Chi Minh City will have 102 commune-level administrative units, including 78 wards and 24 communes. This means a reduction of 171 units, equivalent to 62.64%.

A noteworthy point is that all new administrative units after the reorganization will be named in letters.

In the list of new ward names, Saigon, Cho Lon, Gia Dinh are named for new wards in Districts 1, 5, Binh Thanh.

The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee is assigned to complete the dossier and project to submit to competent authorities for consideration and issuance of an official decision, ensuring compliance with legal regulations.

Thu Duc City merged 34 wards into 12 wards: Hiep Binh, Tam Binh, Thu Duc, Linh Xuan, Long Binh, Tang Nhon Phu, Phuoc Long, Long Phuoc, Long Truong, An Khanh, Binh Trung, Cat Lai.

District 1 merged 10 wards into 4 wards: Saigon, Tan Dinh, Ben Thanh, Cau Ong Lanh.

District 3 merged 10 wards into 3 wards: Ban Co, Xuan Hoa, Nhieu Loc.

District 4 merged 10 wards into 3 wards: Vinh Hoi, Khanh Hoi, Xom Chieu.

District 5 merged 15 wards into 3 wards: Cho Quan, An Dong, Cho Lon.

District 6 merged 14 wards into 4 wards: Binh Tien, Binh Tay, Binh Phu, Phu Lam.

District 7 merged 10 wards into 4 wards: Tan My, Tan Hung, Tan Thuan, Phu Thuan.

District 8 merged 10 wards into 3 wards: Chanh Hung, Binh Dong, Phu Dinh.

District 10 merged 10 wards into 3 wards: Vuon Lai, Dien Hong, Hoa Hung.

District 11 merged 10 wards into 4 wards: Hoa Binh, Phu Tho, Binh Thoi, Minh Phung.

District 12 merged 11 wards into 5 wards: Dong Hung Thuan, Trung My Tay, Tan Thoi Hiep, Thoi An, An Phu Dong.

Binh Thanh District merged 15 wards into 5 wards: Gia Dinh, Binh Thanh, Binh Loi Trung, Thanh My Tay, Binh Quoi.

Phu Nhuan district merged 11 wards into 3 wards: Duc Nhuan, Cau Kieu, Phu Nhuan.

Binh Tan District merged 10 wards into 5 wards: Binh Tan, Binh Hung Hoa, Binh Tri Dong, An Lac, Tan Tao.

Go Vap District merged 12 wards into 6 wards: Hanh Thong, An Nhon, Go Vap, Thong Tay Hoi, An Hoi Tay, An Hoi Dong.

Tan Binh District merged 15 wards into 6 wards: Tan Son Hoa, Tan Son Nhat, Tan Hoa, Bay Hien, Tan Binh, Tan Son.

Tan Phu District merged 11 wards into 5 wards: Tay Thanh, Tan Son Nhi, Phu Tho Hoa, Phu Thanh, Tan Phu.

Binh Chanh district merged 16 communes and towns into 7 communes: Vinh Loc, Tan Vinh Loc, Binh Loi, Tan Nhut, Binh Chanh, Hung Long, Binh Hung.

Cu Chi district merged 21 communes and towns into 7 communes: An Nhon Tay, Thai My, Nhuan Duc, Tan An Hoi, Cu Chi, Phu Hoa Dong, Binh My.

Can Gio district merged 7 communes and towns into 4 communes: Binh Khanh, Can Gio, An Thoi Dong, Thanh An.

Hoc Mon district merged 11 communes and towns into 4 communes: Hoc Mon, Ba Diem, Xuan Thoi Son, Dong Thanh.

Nha Be district merged 7 communes and towns into 2 communes: Nha Be, Hiep Phuoc.
