On December 19, Lang Son province held a ceremony to open the technical traffic of the project to upgrade the section Km18-Km80, National Highway 4B.
This is a key traffic route connecting the center of Lang Son with the eastern localities, connecting with Quang Ninh province and the Northeast region.
The project to upgrade the section Km18-Km80, National Highway 4B has a total investment of nearly VND 2,300 billion from the Socio-Economic Recovery and Development Program.
The entire route is more than 63 km long, passing through Loc Binh, Na Duong, Loi Bac, Dinh Lap and Chau Son communes.
The project started construction at the end of 2023, and the main items have now been completed, qualifying for technical traffic on the entire route.
According to the Department of Construction of Lang Son province, the project includes 10 km of new construction.

In particular, the section from Km18 to the intersection of Provincial Road 236 (Loc Binh - Chi Ma) is 6 km long and has been newly built with a 24.5 m wide roadbed, with a scale of 4 lanes.
The section from the provincial road intersection 236 to the existing National Highway 4B intersection is 4 km long with a roadbed width of 12 m. The remaining sections are expanded to 12 m, 2 lanes. The project also built new and renovated 14 bridges.
Site clearance work is being implemented on an area of about 107 hectares, affecting more than 1,800 households.
The investor said that during the construction process, contractors organized many construction teams and worked continuously in shifts. At peak times, the entire project mobilized 45 construction teams with nearly 400 equipment, motorbikes and more than 600 engineers and workers at the construction site.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of Lang Son Provincial People's Committee Tran Thanh Nhan assessed that the technical opening of National Highway 4B contributes to improving the road exploitation capacity, reducing transportation costs and ensuring traffic safety.
The route is expected to facilitate the transportation of goods, tourism development, trade, services and logistics of the province.
The leaders of the Provincial People's Committee also acknowledged the coordination of departments, branches, local authorities where the project passes through and the consensus of the people in site clearance work.
After the technical opening ceremony, the investor and related units will continue to complete the remaining items, ensuring the quality of the project, and soon put the route into official operation.
