Song Bung Hydropower Company said that from August 23, 2026, the unit has completed major repairs of Unit H2 – Song Bung 4 Hydropower Plant, exceeding the schedule by 7 days compared to the approved plan, ensuring quality and safety. The unit has been restored to a usable state, ready to serve power generation, reservoir regulation and disaster prevention and control in the 2026 rainy and storm season.
Major repair of Unit H2 is one of the important items in the 2026 repair plan of Song Bung Hydropower Company. The unit was grid-separated and isolated from August 1, 2026. With the requirement to complete it within a limited time of isolation, the Company has proactively deployed preparations, from building construction plans, surveying the current status of equipment to preparing materials, specialized equipment and technical personnel.
From the beginning, the Company's Board of Directors directed professional departments and workshops to closely coordinate with the contractor unit, organize scientific construction, and control the progress of each item. The team of technical staff and workers directly involved in construction have promoted the spirit of responsibility, proactively handling arising problems, ensuring strict requirements on technology and labor safety. During the overhaul, many important items of the H2 unit were inspected, maintained and tested, including: turbines, generators, accelerator systems, magnifying systems, protective relays, disc valves, unit cooling systems, single-way and rotating self-use power supply systems, vibration - stir monitoring systems and related measuring and protective equipment.
The inspection work is carried out according to each system and equipment, combining measurement and evaluation of technical parameters. The defects arising during the inspection are promptly handled, thereby contributing to improving the reliability and stable operation of the unit after repair.
A consistent requirement throughout the overhaul process is that safety must be put first. The work is organized and supervised closely, complying with technical procedures, regulations on labor safety and requirements of each item. The coordination between the Company's forces and the contractor unit is maintained regularly, contributing to ensuring progress without affecting the quality of work.
After completing the installation, the H2 unit was organized for unloaded and loaded test runs and overall experiments and adjustments were carried out according to the process. Technical parameters were checked and evaluated before the unit was connected to the grid. Based on the test results meeting requirements, the Company coordinated with the National Power System and Electricity Market Operation Unit (NSMO) to carry out the necessary procedures to restore the H2 unit to its usable state.
Completing major repairs of unit H2 – Song Bung 4 Hydropower Plant ahead of schedule by 07 days is a remarkable result, demonstrating the management capacity, sense of responsibility and effective coordination of the collective of officials and employees of Song Bung Hydropower Company and participating units. More importantly, this result contributes to improving the reliability of Unit H2, consolidating the power generation capacity of Song Bung 4 Hydropower Plant and creating conditions for the Company to proactively perform operational tasks in the coming time.
