The Gia Bay bridge new construction project started in early February 2026, with a total investment of more than 617 billion VND.
This is one of the key traffic projects, serving disaster prevention and control, flooding in the central area of Thai Nguyen province.
The project belongs to group B, level I traffic, invested by the Thai Nguyen Provincial Traffic and Agricultural Construction Investment Project Management Board.
The new bridge is built to replace the old bridge, with a cable-stayed design, more than 180m long, 23.5m wide, and synchronous investment in the bridgehead road system.
According to PV's records in the last days of August 2026, dozens of workers and machinery are being mobilized at the construction site to implement the project.
The construction teams are organized synchronously, focusing on the main items. The positions at both ends of the old bridge are barricaded to ensure safety for vehicles.
According to the investor, the realized value of the project reached about 200 billion VND, equal to 41.3% of the contract value.
Mr. Truong Van Trinh - Construction site commander said that valuable mechanical items, including basic beam segments, have been completed at the production workshop.
The first beams have also been installed. The contractor is focusing manpower and equipment to ensure progress according to the plan.
The unit strives to complete the installation of beam segments by October 20th. Construction organization is calculated in a rolling manner. Sufficient items will be deployed immediately, limiting waiting time.
Currently, Linh Son ward has 70 households and 1 organization affected by the project, an increase of 3 households compared to previous figures due to the emergence of separated land plots identified through land records.
To date, 15 households and 1 organization have not yet handed over the land.
According to Mr. Tran Trong Cuong - Deputy Director of the Project Management Board for Investment and Construction of Transport and Agricultural Works of Thai Nguyen province, site clearance is being focused on by relevant agencies and localities.
Gia Bay Bridge spans the Cau River, connecting Phan Dinh Phung and Linh Son wards, playing an important role in the transportation network in the central area of Thai Nguyen province.
The project is expected to be completed and put into use by the end of 2026.
