At the end of 2022, Hanoi started the Project to renovate and upgrade National Highway 6, Ba La - Xuan Mai section.
The project has a length of 21.7km. The starting point is at Km14 in Ba La district, Ha Dong district (now Yen Nghia ward); the ending point is at Km38, Xuan Mai town, Chuong My district (now Xuan Mai commune).
The total investment of the project is over 9,590 billion VND, implemented in the 2022-2027 period. When completed, the road will have a cross-section of 50-60m.
Regarding the current construction progress, the Hanoi Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (the investor) said that the overpass at the National Highway 6 - Ring Road 4 intersection has been constructed with 95/144 bored piles; 2/16 abutments and bridge piers have been completed; cast girders 15/120 SuperT girders.
Continuing the construction of SuperT pillars and beams (manufacturing and installing pedestrian floors, molds, reinforced steel bars, pouring T4P concrete; installing reinforced steel molds for T6T pillars; pouring concrete for T1P pillar bases; pouring SuperT beam concrete, processing SuperT beam reinforced steel).
Mai Linh bridge has been cast 37/238 beams I and has deployed construction of 30/126 drilled piles, cast 1,000/6,936 molds. 3 pillars are under construction (drilling and pouring concrete 2 CKN pillars T6T; installing molds for pillars T7T).
Dong Chu bridge: Beam installation, concrete bridge deck, top walls have been completed... Construction of the bridgehead road, making railings; sidewalks.
Tan Truong bridge: 2/2 beam installation has been completed, longitudinal connecting beams, bridge deck have been constructed, and railings and walkways are under construction.
Box culvert at Km23+600: 2/9 sections have been completed. Currently constructing granular material for the culvert bearing part.
Nam Lu (6x6) box culvert at Km37+515: 4/6 sections have been completed.
Spring girders of Xuan Mai bridge (56/56 girders), Quan Lat bridge (56/56 girders) have been cast.
Other bridges in the area are waiting for land to construct drilled piles and other items.
Regarding the road section, the total length received for handover is about 19.91km (8.78km/15.87km on the left side of the route, 11.13km/15.87km on the right side of the route), however, the ground received is sparse, not connected to the route.
To date, 2.76km of C19 asphalt concrete has been paved. Units are actively implementing the construction of items on the handed-over site that meets construction conditions: organic scraping, foundation filling...
Construction of 110m of construction stone embankment; 120m of reinforced concrete wall (right side, belonging to Xuan Mai communal house pond).
Regarding site clearance work, strive to complete the entire project in the second quarter of 2026. In which, Kien Hung and Duong Noi wards will be completed in April 2026; Phu Luong and Yen Nghia wards will be completed in June 2026; Chuong My ward, Xuan Mai and Phu Nghia communes will be completed in June 2026.
