On December 5, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Binh Thuan province had initial information about the missing workers on fishing boat BTh 99730 TS.
Fishing boat BTh 99730 TS, capacity 435CV, trawl fishing, with 12 workers, owned and captained by Mr. D.Q.L (born in 1987, residing in Binh Tan ward, La Gi town).
In the early morning of December 5, when the fishing boat was anchored about 32 nautical miles south of La Gi estuary, the crew discovered that worker H.T (born in 1990, residing in La Gi town) was not on board, suspected to have fallen into the sea and gone missing.
The night before, after the workers finished eating and went to sleep, only Mr. H.T was left fishing for squid.
After discovering the incident, the captain of the BTh 99730 TS ship and 4 fishing boats operating nearby organized a search for the victim but were unable to find him.
The Binh Thuan Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue requested the Provincial Border Guard Command and relevant agencies to notify boat owners and fishermen operating near the above area and coordinate in searching for the missing victims.
