Overcoming big waves, pulling a broken fishing boat at sea to Phu Quy island

    Binh Thuan - A fishing boat with 17 crew members whose engine broke down and was left adrift at sea in big waves was promptly towed to Phu Quy Island.

    By the afternoon of December 1, news from Phu Quy island district, Binh Thuan province said that after the fishing boat QNg 95046 TS had a broken engine and was drifting at sea about 2 nautical miles from the island, it was towed to Phu Quy island safely by Ship 417, Naval Region 4 Command, and the health of the 17 crew members on board was stable.

    Earlier that morning, fishing boat QNg 95046 TS had an engine failure and could not be repaired, so it drifted freely at sea in rough sea conditions. The captain of QNg 95046 TS sent out a distress signal.

    At that time, Navy ship 417 was on patrol and control duty in the Phu Quy island area, Binh Thuan province, and received orders to assist and tow ship QNg 95046 TS at a location about 2 nautical miles from this island.

    Overcoming strong winds of level 5 and level 6 due to rough seas, ship 417 approached the fishing boat with broken engine and towed it safely to the island. The commander of ship 417 completed the procedures to hand over the boat to Phu Quy Border Guard Station.
