On July 31, the Military Command of Huong Lap commune, Quang Tri province, said that the unit had just received information from the Political Department, Engineer Corps about coordinating the search and identification of martyr Tran (Nhu) Vuong's remains.
According to information from the Engineering Corps, the unit has received a request from Ms. Do Thi Hien - wife of martyr Tran (Nhu) Vuong, requesting support in searching for her husband's grave.
Martyr Tran (Nhu) Vuong was born in 1929, from Van Quan village, Van Khe commune, Yen Lang district, former Vinh Phu province. Before his sacrifice, he held the rank of Captain, holding the position of Operations Assistant, working at the Staff Department, Engineering Command.
Martyr Tran (Nhu) Vuong sacrificed on March 21, 1969, on the Southern front.
Based on information and tomb maps kept by the family, the Engineering Corps initially determined that martyr Tran (Nhu) Vuong was buried at the 164 Sub-station Martyrs' Cemetery, located in Huong Lap commune, Quang Tri province.
According to the diagram, the cemetery has 6 graves, numbered from 1 to 6. Among them, the martyr Tran (Nhu) Vuong's grave is identified as grave number 1. The remaining five graves have not yet been identified.
The Engineering Corps requested agencies, units and local authorities to coordinate in verifying information and searching for the burial area according to the diagram provided by the family.
Functional agencies also hope that people and veterans who fought, worked or lived in the former Huong Lap and Vinh Linh areas will provide more documents and information about witnesses and the location of Sub-station 164 Martyrs' Cemetery.
Responding to the "Operation of 500 days and nights to promote the search, repatriation and identification of martyrs' remains", the Military Command of Huong Lap commune called on veterans, people and communities to support the search.
