Search for missing fishermen in Quang Ngai faces difficulties

VIÊN NGUYỄN |

Due to high winds and waves, the search and rescue of a missing fisherman in the waters of Quang Ngai encountered many difficulties.

On November 5, the Quang Ngai Border Guard Command said that the unit had just received a report of a fisherman missing while operating in local waters.

Previously, at 9:00 a.m. on November 4, fishing boat QNg 90379 TS had 12 fishermen, led by Mr. Vo Hong Thien (43 years old, in Binh Chau commune, Binh Son district, Quang Ngai province) - the owner and captain. The boat departed from Sa Ky Border Control Station, Quang Ngai province to dive in the Truong Sa archipelago.

At around 3:00 p.m. on November 4, while fishing boat QNg 90379 TS was moving in the sea about 23 nautical miles from Sa Huynh estuary, Duc Pho town, Quang Ngai province, it was discovered that crew member Do Van Khanh (28 years old, from Van Gia commune, Van Ninh district, Khanh Hoa province) had fallen into the sea and gone missing.

Immediately after the discovery, fishing boat QNg 90379 TS mobilized 2 more local fishing boats to search but still could not find the victim.

Upon receiving the information, the Quang Ngai Border Guard Command directed the Border Guard stations to coordinate with functional forces, local authorities and mobilize vehicles operating near the accident area to support the search for the missing fishermen. However, due to the influence of cold air, the weather in the Quang Ngai sea area currently has winds of level 6, gusts of level 7 and heavy rain, so the search and rescue work for the missing fishermen is facing many difficulties.
