On November 5, the Office of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province informed that Mr. Tran Phuoc Hien - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province issued a document directing subordinate departments and agencies to proactively respond to heavy rain and floods in the area.
According to the Quang Ngai Hydrometeorological Station, from November 5 to 6, Quang Ngai will have moderate to heavy rain, some places will have very heavy rain and thunderstorms. During thunderstorms, be on guard against tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind. The forecast rainfall in the next 24 hours is generally from 40 to 80mm, some places over 100mm.
Heavy rains pose a risk of floods, flash floods, landslides in mountainous areas, mines under exploitation and flooding in low-lying areas.
Mr. Tran Phuoc Hien requested all levels and sectors to closely monitor information and developments of strong winds at sea; notify captains and owners of vehicles and boats operating at sea to proactively prevent and ensure safety of people and property.
Strictly manage the departure of ships and boats; proactively prohibit ships and boats from operating at sea when the sea area of Quang Ngai province has strong winds of level 6 or higher.
Organize inspections of areas at high risk of landslides, flash floods, and inundation to promptly evacuate people in the area to safety; especially pay attention to areas that have had and are having landslides in Son Ha, Tra Bong, Son Tay, Ba To, and Minh Long districts. Pay attention to areas where cracks have appeared on the mountain slopes and are at high risk of landslides and proactively evacuate people according to the motto "Go early, come back late".
Mr. Hien requested to inspect, review, deploy operation plans and ensure safety of reservoirs and downstream areas, especially small hydroelectric reservoirs and important irrigation reservoirs; arrange permanent forces to operate and regulate and be ready to handle possible situations.
