On the evening of February 21, in an exchange with reporters, Mr. Ta Quang Cong, Chairman of Bao Ai Commune People's Committee (Lao Cai province) confirmed that at about 6 pm on the same day, a passenger ship capsizing occurred in the Thac Ba lake area of the commune, causing many people to go missing.
According to the leader, after receiving the news, functional units were present at the scene to approach and search for the victims.
Until about 10 pm on the same day, the search was still ongoing. Some sources said that about 6 people have not been found yet.
According to initial information, the incident was caused by a cargo ship ramming a passenger ship on Thac Ba Lake. At this time, the passenger ship was carrying about 20 people.
