On the afternoon of August 12, Hai An Border Guard Station (Quang Tri Provincial Border Guard) said it had coordinated with local authorities, functional forces and people to find the bodies of fishermen who went missing while fishing.
Accordingly, the body of Mr. M.V.L (born in 1977, residing in Dong Tan village, My Thuy commune, Quang Tri province) was discovered by the boat of Mr. Nguyen Van Ngai (born in 1967, My Thuy commune) at 10:00 a.m. the same day.
At the time of discovery, the victim's body was floating on the water about 5 nautical miles from My Thuy Port.
At 11:22, the victims were brought to shore, and the authorities have completed the procedures to hand over to the family for burial according to local customs.
Previously, at around 7am on August 10, a fisherman fishing at sea discovered a fishing boat drifting about 4 nautical miles from shore near My Thuy Port. Through inspection, it was determined that this was Mr. M.V.L's boat, departing from the wharf at 2:00 a.m. the same day, but there was no one on the boat.
As soon as the news was received, Hai An Border Guard Station advised the Command Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue of My Thuy commune to coordinate with forces, Security Team and Boat Self-management Team in the area to organize the search.
