On the morning of August 10, the People's Committee of My Thuy commune (Quang Tri province) said that at around 7am the same day, while fishing in an area 4 nautical miles from My Thuy port, Mr. Le Quang Dien (residing in Thuan Dau village, My Thuy commune) discovered a fishing boat drifting.
Through identification, this is the boat of Mr. M.V.L (born in 1977, residing in Dong Tan An village, My Thuy commune), going fishing at 2am.
At the time of discovery, there were no people on the boat, many personal belongings and fishing gear were still intact. Suspecting that Mr. L was in distress at sea, the fishermen reported it to the local authorities.
Upon receiving the information, Hai An Border Guard Station coordinated with rescue forces to approach and bring the boat to shore to serve the verification work; at the same time, mobilized search boats and notified the vehicles operating at sea to support the discovery of the fishermen's whereabouts.
The cause of the incident is being investigated and clarified by the authorities.
