On June 17, Mr. Hoang Anh Quang, Director of the Center for Management of Traffic Maintenance and Technical Infrastructure, said that the unit is inspecting and fixing the faulty traffic light system at the intersection of the Dong Hoi city bypass road and Dien Bien Phu road, belonging to Dong Hoi ward, Quang Tri province.
Previously, people reflected that for many days, the traffic light system in this area operated abnormally, causing difficulties and potential safety risks for traffic participants.
According to reporters of Lao Dong Newspaper, the traffic light cluster at many times fell into a state of not signaling, then suddenly red lights and green lights appeared simultaneously. The incident made many drivers confused, unable to determine whether to stop or continue moving, increasing the risk of traffic collisions.
Mr. Hoang Anh Quang said that immediately after receiving the feedback, the unit sent technical staff to the scene to inspect, determine the cause, and at the same time deploy a repair plan to soon restore the normal operation of the traffic light system, ensuring traffic safety.
According to the Quang Tri Provincial Department of Construction, currently some traffic light systems in the area have been invested in for many years. The continuous operation in harsh weather conditions has caused many items such as power lines and underground cables to degrade, leading to intermittent operation, sometimes on, sometimes off.
Faced with this situation, the Department of Construction has proposed to the People's Committee of Quang Tri province to consider allocating resources to invest in and replace degraded traffic light systems, in order to ensure the quality of traffic infrastructure, improve the efficiency of vehicle regulation and ensure safety for people when participating in traffic.
