On July 20, information from the People's Committee of Thuc Phan ward, leaders of the Party Committee and People's Committee of the ward visited the victims being treated at the hospital and expressed condolences to the families of the victims who died in the gas poisoning incident that occurred in Hanh Phuc residential group.
According to the report of the Ward Civil Defense Command, at about 10 am on July 19, during the process of pumping water and dredging mud at the tank of the Hanh Phuc residential group's domestic water pumping station, Mr. Tran Van Quang (born 1989) went down to the tank to work and showed signs of suffocation.
Rescue participants were also affected by gas accumulation in the closed space.
Three people including Ms. Phan Thi Men, Mr. Nguyen Khanh Luat and Ms. Nong Thi Phuong Thao were taken to the emergency room, and their health is now stable.
By 1 pm on the same day, functional forces brought Mr. Tran Van Quang out of the tank, but the victim died. The initial cause was determined to be CO2 poisoning.
Immediately after the incident, Thuc Phan ward mobilized forces to participate in rescue and relief and support the victims.
At the hospital and the victim's family, ward leaders visited, encouraged, shared the loss, and at the same time requested agencies and organizations to pay attention to supporting the family in preparing for the funeral.
Through the incident, the ward government advised people not to use generators and gasoline and oil pumps in closed spaces.
It is necessary to ensure ventilation, check for toxic gases and fully equip protective equipment when working in tanks, tunnels, culverts, and wells.
When an air poisoning incident occurs, do not voluntarily go down to rescue without protective equipment, immediately call functional forces at 114 or emergency 115.
