According to the Lao Dong Newspaper's reporter in early November, Provincial Road 158 from A Mu Sung commune (the starting point of the Fatherland and where the Red River flows into Vietnam) to the Y Ty tourist area (Bat Xat district) had many landslides after the impact of the recent storm No. 3.
In reality, the traffic situation on the route has only been partially restored to ensure people's travel. Vehicles such as motorbikes and bicycles can move, but cars or larger vehicles will have difficulty due to the narrow road, some sections have landslides.
Ms. Ma Thi Trang (residing in A Mu Sung commune) said: "After the storm, this road was eroded, seriously affecting people's travel. On sunny days, dust flies up behind other vehicles on this road. On rainy days, travel is even more difficult because the soil has collapsed everywhere and has not been completely repaired."
Mr. Lu A Dai (Y Ty commune) shared that after the recent flood, the road infrastructure was quickly cleaned and renovated to make it less dangerous for people to travel.
Due to the road's many years of degradation and potential traffic safety risks, at the end of 2023, 99 billion VND was invested to upgrade and renovate it.
The project is invested by Lao Cai Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board. The construction unit is a joint venture of Viet Duc Anh Investment and Development Company Limited - Lao Cai Bridge Construction Joint Stock Company, expected to be completed in April 2025.
Speaking with Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Ma Seo Cui - Chairman of the People's Committee of A Mu Sung Commune said that Provincial Road 158 running through the commune has been degraded for nearly ten years.
This is the only road, running from the commune to Y Ty. Therefore, the people strongly support the policy of investing and upgrading the road to develop the economy, culture and tourism.
Chairman of Y Ty Commune People's Committee Tao Van Sinh also said: "The recent flood affected Y Ty commune mainly in terms of infrastructure, especially traffic infrastructure. Currently, the government has completed the first phase of traffic repair, temporarily ensuring roads for people to travel."
According to the Chairman of the People's Committee of Y Ty commune, tourists often come to the commune during the rice harvest season to take photos, climb mountains, experience adventure tourism, eco-tourism...
