On the morning of November 9, Mr. Tran Minh Chien - Chairman of Nha Trang City People's Committee said that the engineering force will approach the top of Cu Hin Pass to study the terrain, not excluding the possibility of using mines to handle this giant rock.
Yesterday afternoon, Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Secretary Nghiem Xuan Thanh and an interdisciplinary inspection team inspected the Cu Hin Pass area and directed that within 24 hours, the authorities must handle the above-mentioned rock to ensure people's safety.
Options for road closures and relocation of fiber optic cables and power lines were considered before the rock was removed.
However, according to Mr. Tran Minh Chien, through the survey process, the authorities discovered that the above-mentioned rock is not a "lonely rock". Although the rock is precarious, there is still a part of the rock lying deep in the ground.
Initially, the authorities planned to bring in an excavator to approach the rock and push it onto the road. However, after conducting a geological survey, the authorities determined that the terrain was complex and could not be handled according to the original plan.
This morning, the military will go to the top of the mountain to survey the terrain and calculate a plan to deal with the rock in accordance with the direction of the Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Secretary. The authorities do not rule out the option of blasting the rock.
Nha Trang City Chairman Tran Minh Chien said the locality is determined to completely deal with the rock to ensure safety for people moving around.
