"Construction Package No. 1, the construction of the HC1 underpass, has so far completed 85% of the work. The contractor has completed the temporary road; cut down and relocated affected trees within the project area and organized traffic to serve the construction; at the same time, completed the structure of the open tunnel segments and closed tunnel segments. It is expected that the entire work volume will be completed and the tunnel will be opened to traffic on December 31," said Mr. Phuc.

In parallel with the construction of the underpass, the contractor is re-establishing the ground level above the tunnel so that the project can be completed on schedule.

Previously, construction package No. 2, construction of HC2 underpass, was completed and put into use from October 2024.

In order for the entire Nguyen Van Linh - Nguyen Huu Tho underpass project to be completed on schedule, the Traffic Committee recommends that the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport consider approving the traffic organization plan and granting construction permits. At the same time, inspect and accept the remaining items to open the HC1 underpass branch to traffic and put the entire Nguyen Van Linh - Nguyen Huu Tho intersection underpass project into service of the people by December 31, 2024.

The Traffic Committee also recommended that the Department of Industry and Trade, Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation, Ho Chi Minh City Power Distribution Project Management Board, and Tan Thuan Power Company urgently speed up the construction of a transformer station (capacity equivalent to 400kVA) to ensure a stable and long-term power supply to serve the operation of the project's pumping station, lighting, and camera systems.

The Nguyen Van Linh - Nguyen Huu Tho underpass project is invested by the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Management Board, with a total investment of 830 billion VND.

The project includes two tunnels in each direction of Nguyen Van Linh Street, each tunnel is 456 m long, has three lanes, and a speed of 60 km/h. In addition, the project also builds a pumping station and drainage system for the tunnel, a lighting system, traffic organization, and a number of other technical infrastructure works...

Once completed and put into operation, the project will help reduce traffic congestion at the southern gateway intersection of Ho Chi Minh City. At the same time, it will create ventilation for the main road connecting the center of Ho Chi Minh City with Nha Be district and Hiep Phuoc port.
