In the context of Vietnam promoting green transformation, sustainable development and implementing the goal of carbon neutrality, using energy economically and efficiently is becoming an urgent requirement for the economy. In that flow, the 2026 Energy Efficiency Award is not just a simple honoring activity, but also of great significance in promoting innovation, spreading awareness and raising the social responsibility of businesses in energy use.
According to information from the launching ceremony organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade in coordination with the Vietnam Association of Science and Technology for Energy Saving and Efficiency (VECEA), the 2026 Energy Efficiency Award continues to be implemented nationwide with the participation of many businesses, construction projects and organizations operating in the energy sector.
Speaking at the Launching Ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Lam Giang - Director of the Department of Innovation, Green Transformation and Industrial Promotion, Ministry of Industry and Trade said: "The award is organized annually to recognize and honor businesses operating in the field of industrial production, typical construction projects in implementing energy-saving and efficient energy use solutions. At the same time, promote and encourage businesses to implement advanced management and technology solutions to bring to the market products with superior technical features, high energy efficiency, and energy saving.
In fact, energy saving solutions not only help businesses reduce production costs but also contribute to improving competitiveness in the context of increasingly deep international integration. Energy saving also means reducing greenhouse gas emissions, protecting the environment and aiming for green development goals.
One of the important highlights of the 2026 Energy Efficiency Award is the encouragement of the application of science, technology, innovation and digital transformation in energy management and use. The award not only stops at recognizing traditional solutions but also expands to new technology models, smart energy management software, and electricity consumption optimization systems in production and daily life.
Reality shows that many businesses have boldly invested in modern technologies such as automatic control systems, energy-saving equipment, high-performance lighting solutions or real-time energy management systems. These efforts are contributing to forming a green, modern and more sustainable industrial ecosystem.
According to the national program on energy saving and efficiency in the period 2019 - 2030, Vietnam aims to save from 8 - 10% of total energy consumption. In the context that industry accounts for more than 50% of the country's total energy consumption, promoting energy saving initiatives in this field is of particular importance.
In addition, the potential for energy saving in the construction sector is assessed to reach from 30 - 35%, showing great room for technology and energy management solutions to be effective. Therefore, the Energy Efficiency Award plays the role of a "launchpad" for good initiatives to be spread and replicated throughout society.
The 2026 Energy Efficiency Award is a recognition for pioneering businesses in green transformation, and at the same time creates motivation for the business community to continue to innovate, create and share responsibilities with society in environmental protection.
