The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee have just agreed on the investment policy for 3 key bridge projects including Cat Lai, Dong Nai 2 and Phu My 2 with a total capital of nearly VND 52,000 billion, to enhance inter-regional traffic connectivity, especially when Long Thanh airport comes into operation.
At the recent meeting, leaders of the two localities agreed: Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee will be the managing agency for the investment of Cat Lai Bridge and Dong Nai Bridge 2 projects; Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee is the managing agency for the Phu My 2 Bridge project.

Cat Lai Bridge: Total capital is nearly VND 19,500 billion
Cat Lai Bridge is designed as a cable-stayed bridge, with a scale of 8 lanes, a total length of 11.4km (including bridges and approach roads) with a total capital of about VND 19,448 billion.
The starting point of the bridge is on Nguyen Thi Dinh Street (HCMC), about 400m from My Thuy intersection; the end point connects Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway (Dong Nai).

The project is proposed to be divided into 3 component projects:
Component 1: Expanding 1.6km of Nguyen Thi Dinh Street (HCMC), with an investment capital of VND3,851 billion, of which more than VND3,600 billion is for site clearance.
Component 2: Construction of a 6.57km long road from the Cat Lai bridge toll station (Nhon Trach, Dong Nai) to the end of the route, with a capital of about VND 5,080 billion.
Component 3: Construction of Cat Lai cable-stayed bridge with a length of 4.8km and approach road, capital of about VND10,517 billion, of which construction and installation costs account for more than VND6,200 billion.
The project is invested in the form of PPP, BOT contract, with a capital structure: the State budget participates in 49%, investors mobilize 51%. The expected time to collect the refund fee is 24 years and 1 month.
Phu My 2 Bridge: Direct connection of South Saigon with Long Thanh Airport
Phu My 2 Bridge has a scale of 8 lanes, with a total preliminary investment of about VND 21,484 billion, of which the cost of site clearance is about VND 6,250 billion.
The entire route is about 16.7km long, starting at Nguyen Huu Tho Street (HCMC) to the east, connecting to Hoang Quoc Viet Street to Dao Tri Street, crossing Dong Nai River and connecting to Lien Cang Street and then connecting to Road 25C (Dong Nai Province).

This is a new traffic axis directly connecting the South Saigon urban area with Long Thanh airport, and at the same time connecting with the elevated route on Nguyen Huu Tho Street (HCMC) and 25C Street (Dong Nai).
Along with that, Phu My 2 Bridge also creates a strategic connecting route between Tan Son Nhat Airport and Long Thanh Airport, contributing to the formation of a modern inter-regional transport network.
Dong Nai Bridge 2: Enhancing traffic capacity at the eastern gateway
The Dong Nai 2 bridge project has a total capital of nearly VND 11,000 billion, designed across the Dong Nai river towards the downstream, in the Long Hung ward area (Dong Nai).
The starting point of the bridge intersects with Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 at Go Cong intersection (Ho Chi Minh City), the end point intersects with National Highway 51 of Dong Nai province.

When completed, Dong Nai 2 Bridge will, together with Ring Road 2, Ring Road 3, the branch connecting Hanoi Highway, Huong Lo 2 and National Highway 51, form a new traffic axis.
This not only increases the traffic capacity between Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai but also expands the connectivity to seaports, urban areas, as well as the two international airports of Tan Son Nhat and Long Thanh.
