Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Bui Xuan Cuong has just directed relevant departments and agencies to urgently complete procedures to soon implement the Binh Tien bridge and road project - one of the important radial traffic axes of the City.
The Binh Tien bridge and road project (section from Pham Van Chi street to Nguyen Van Linh street) has been approved for investment policy by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council from April 2025, with a total investment of nearly 6,300 billion VND, divided into 2 component projects.
Component project 1 focuses on compensation, support and resettlement, with a total investment of more than 3,369 billion VND. The project needs to recover about 21.27 hectares of land, affecting 389 households.
The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to urgently organize the appraisal of the feasibility study report, submitting it to the City People's Committee for approval before January 31, 2026, requesting no delay.

Component project 2 is the construction of Binh Tien bridge and road, with a total investment of more than 2,915 billion VND.
The bridge and road route is about 3.66 km long, starting from the intersection of Binh Tien - Pham Van Chi street (formerly District 6, now Binh Tien ward) and ending at the intersection with Nguyen Van Linh street (formerly Binh Chanh district, now Binh Hung commune).
Binh Tien bridge and road consists of two main parts. The elevated road section is about 3.1 km long, with a scale of 4 to 6 lanes, starting from Pham Van Chi street, crossing the Tau Hu canal, running elevated through Phu Dinh ward, crossing the Doi canal and crossing Nguyen Van Linh street to connect with the road connecting National Highway 50.
Below is a parallel road system, wide from 2 to 6 lanes, contributing to increasing traffic capacity for the area.
The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee assigned the Department of Construction to urgently appraise the feasibility study report of component project 2, and advise on submitting it to the City People's Committee for approval before January 31, 2026. The appraisal must closely follow the legal boundary of the project that has been approved by the City, ensuring technical factors are consistent with the dossier that has been approved for investment policy by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council, ensuring synchronicity and compliance with current regulations.

At the same time, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee also assigned the Binh Hung Commune People's Committee to urgently approve the adjustment of the Detailed Urban Construction Planning Project at a scale of 1/5000 of the Southern New Urban Area and the Detailed Urban Construction Planning Project at a scale of 1/2000 of Zone 11A - Functional Area No. 11, to be completed before January 30, 2026 in accordance with regulations.
According to the plan, the project will officially start construction in 2026 and be completed in the third quarter of 2027.
Currently, the connection between the center of Ho Chi Minh City and the southern areas mainly depends on some roads such as Nguyen Huu Tho, Duong Ba Trac, Pham Hung, National Highway 50... These routes are often overloaded, especially during peak hours and holidays and Tet.
With the role of a strategic radial traffic axis, Binh Tien bridge and road is expected to share the pressure on existing roads, significantly improve the connectivity between the center of Ho Chi Minh City and the South Saigon and Hiep Phuoc areas, and at the same time create an important inter-connection axis with Ring Road 2, Ring Road 3 and Ring Road 4 in the future.
