The above information was stated in the recent conclusion of the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee on the organization of the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026 and key tasks for 2026.
The Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee requested to urgently complete the dossier and legal procedures to promptly start the Nha Rong - Khanh Hoi Port Park project associated with the expansion of the Ho Chi Minh Museum Area, Ho Chi Minh Cultural Space, and at the same time deploy the project to expand Nguyen Tat Thanh street on the occasion of National Day September 2.
Previously, the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee agreed on the policy of stopping the Nha Rong - Khanh Hoi Complex project, transferring the entire area to develop parks and cultural spaces serving the community.
This decision is considered a major turning point in planning orientation, prioritizing public space instead of commercial exploitation in a location rich in historical value and riverside landscape.

The Nha Rong - Khanh Hoi Port Park project has a scale of about 31.5 ha, associated with expanding the Ho Chi Minh Museum Area and forming a large-scale Ho Chi Minh Cultural Space on the banks of the Saigon River.
According to the previous proposed plan of the Department of Planning and Architecture, this land area will reserve 60% of the area for green parks and water surfaces; 20% for public works; 20% for the international port area.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Planning and Architecture, the above orientation aims to increase the proportion of green space in the central area, improve the environment, improve the quality of life of people and aim for sustainable urban development.
When completed, the Nha Rong - Khanh Hoi Port area is expected to become a new landscape and cultural highlight of the city, connecting with existing riverside spaces.

In parallel, Nguyen Tat Thanh road - a key riverside traffic route - will also be expanded from Khanh Hoi bridge to Tan Thuan bridge to a width of 30 - 40 m, with a scale of 6 - 8 lanes.
The expansion of this road is considered an important solution to reduce congestion and increase connectivity between the South and the city center.
The project also builds a new Tan Thuan 1 bridge to ensure load capacity, clearance for navigation and harmony with the urban landscape along the river. Ho Chi Minh City also builds Hoang Dieu underpass with at least 4 lanes to separate traffic flow and reduce traffic conflicts.

The total investment of the Nguyen Tat Thanh road expansion project is about 2,950 billion VND. Ho Chi Minh City sets a target to complete investment preparation and site clearance in 2026, and deploy construction in the 2027 - 2029 period.
