HCMC - The HCMC People's Committee has just approved component project 1 to invest in the construction of the HCMC - Moc Bai expressway under the BOT form with a total investment of more than VND 10,400 billion.

Investors have mobilized about VND9,943 billion in capital, accounting for more than 95.4% of total investment capital. The remaining amount, about 461 billion VND, will be covered by the Ho Chi Minh City budget.

Component project 1 is one of the 4 component projects of the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai Expressway. Previously, Ho Chi Minh City had approved 2 other component projects, including:

Component project 2: Invest in the construction of residential access roads and overpasses across the expressway, with a total investment of VND 2,421 billion from the Ho Chi Minh City budget.

Component project 3: Implement compensation, support and resettlement in Ho Chi Minh City with a total capital of more than VND 5,052 billion, of which compensation costs are more than VND 4,333 billion. Expected to reclaim land from about 2,193 households in 5 communes: Phu Hoa Dong, Nhuan Duc, Thai My, Tan An Hoi and Cu Chi.

Meanwhile, component project 4 is implemented by Tay Ninh province, related to site clearance on the route through this province, with a total capital of about 1,504 billion VND.

The Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai Expressway project has a total length of 51.2km, starting point connecting with Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 in Cu Chi district (old), ending point intersecting with National Highway 22 in Ben Cau district (old) Tay Ninh province.

Phase 1 of the project will invest in the construction of a 4-lane expressway, while deploying auxiliary works such as rest stops, smart traffic systems, toll collection systems, etc.

The total investment of the entire project (including interest costs) is about VND 19,617 billion.

According to the plan, Ho Chi Minh City plans to start the construction of a package to demolish bombs and mines and relocate technical infrastructure on August 19.

Items of the Component Project 2 such as the residential access road and the expressway overpass are expected to start construction in September 2025.

Component project 1 of the main expressway construction is expected to start construction in January 2026. The entire project is expected to be completed by the end of 2027.

When put into operation, the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai Expressway will help reduce the load on National Highway 22, synchronizing the belt routes with high capacity, traffic safety and high speed on the Ho Chi Minh City - Tay Ninh transport corridor.

Thereby, developing the industrial - urban chain of Moc Bai - Ho Chi Minh City - Cai Mep - Thi Vai Port in conjunction with the Xuyen A economic corridor, promoting the socio-economic development of Ho Chi Minh City and Tay Ninh in particular and the provinces in the Southeast region in general.

In addition, the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai Expressway also creates a driving force for connecting, promoting cooperation and development in the Southeast region with the Mekong Delta, the Central Highlands and the South Central region.
