Tham Luong - Ben Cat - Nuoc Len canal
The infrastructure renovation and construction project has a total investment of more than 9,000 billion VND, started in early 2023.
This is the longest canal in Ho Chi Minh City with nearly 32 km, passing through 7 former districts: 12, Binh Tan, Tan Phu, Tan Binh, Go Vap, Binh Thanh and Binh Chanh.
The project includes building concrete embankments on both banks, dredging canal beds, building canal roads 8 - 12 m wide, installing drainage systems, lighting, and green trees; building 19 drainage culverts, 12 wharves and 3 connecting bridges.

After nearly 3 years of construction, the volume of the entire project has reached about 70%. Currently, about 33/64 km of canal roads have been technically opened to traffic.
After the 2026 Lunar New Year, it is expected that about 7 km more will be put into operation, raising the total length to about 40 km.

The entire project is expected to be completed in 2026, contributing to urban embellishment, environmental improvement, creating a drainage axis for nearly 15,000 hectares of basins and reducing pressure on National Highway 1.
The two canal-side roads are expected to become parallel traffic axes, similar to the Hoang Sa - Truong Sa road along the Nhieu Loc - Thi Nghe canal.

Rach Xuyen Tam
Xuyen Tam canal is nearly 9 km long, connecting from Nhieu Loc - Thi Nghe canal to Vam Thuat river.
The main route is 6.7 km long, with three branches (Son Bridge, Binh Trieu, Binh Loi) more than 2.2 km long, flowing through An Nhon, Gia Dinh, Binh Thanh and Binh Loi Trung wards (formerly Go Vap and Binh Thanh districts).
The renovation project has a total investment of more than 17,000 billion VND, of which compensation, support and resettlement costs account for about 14,000 billion VND. More than 2,230 households and organizations are affected.

The project has 3 main construction packages, of which the first package started construction in May 2025. Currently, many households have dismantled houses and handed over land to speed up progress.
According to the design, the canal bed will be dredged 3.5 m deep, expanded from 20 - 30 m; synchronously built a wastewater and rainwater collection system.
The two banks of the canal make a road 6 m wide (two lanes on each side), sidewalks 3 - 4 m along with parks and green trees.

The project is expected to be completed in 2028, contributing to reducing pollution, flood control and improving the urban environment.
Two canal-side roads when put into operation will open a new traffic direction from the Northeast area to the center of Ho Chi Minh City, reducing pressure on existing traffic axes.
Van Thanh Canal
Van Thanh canal renovation project (from Vo Oanh alley to Nhieu Loc - Thi Nghe canal) with a total length of about 2.24 km. In which, the main canal route is nearly 1.96 km long and a sub-canal branch is about 275 m long.

The canal bed will be dredged 3 m deep, 25 - 80 m wide; build concrete embankments, complete the rainwater and wastewater drainage system. In parallel, there are canal-side roads and parallel roads connecting to Dien Bien Phu 11 - 20 m wide.
The project also builds a new Phu An bridge 19 m wide; expands and upgrades Ngo Tat To street (section from Phu An bridge to Phu My street) to 25 m. About 4.2 hectares of land along the canal are planned into parks, green spaces and technical infrastructure.
The total investment of the project is more than 8,555 billion VND, of which compensation, support, and resettlement costs are more than 6,812 billion VND. There are 1,077 cases of land acquisition, 749 households have to be completely relocated.

Site clearance is expected to be completed this year, the project started in 2027 and will be completed by the end of 2029.
The project not only helps to clear the flow, collect wastewater and bring it to the centralized treatment plant of Ho Chi Minh City, but also creates a canal-side traffic axis connecting key routes such as Dien Bien Phu, Ngo Tat To, Nguyen Huu Canh, Vo Oanh...
North bank of Doi Canal
The North bank renovation project started in August 2025 with a total capital of more than 7,300 billion VND.
The project is implemented on a canal section about 4.3 km long through Chanh Hung and Phu Dinh wards (formerly District 8).

The main items include: building about 4.3 km of embankment, dredging part of the northern canal bed, upgrading Hoai Thanh and Nguyen Duy routes along the canal bank with a road surface of 20 m wide.
In addition, the project also builds new Nguyen Duy extended road (from alley 157 Hung Phu to Chu Y bridge, 16 m wide), Hiep An 2 bridge, along with drainage, lighting, green trees and an inland waterway wharf to serve guests.

About 1,605 households and organizations are affected, with a recovered area of 5.85 hectares.
The project is expected to be completed in 2028, contributing to improving people's lives, creating a "above the wharf, below the boat" landscape, increasing traffic connectivity, and developing tourism.
