Ho Chi Minh City will build 6 bridges connecting Binh Quoi - Thanh Da Urban Area

Ho Chi Minh City plans to build 6 bridges connecting Binh Quoi - Thanh Da Urban Area with surrounding areas, breaking the "unique path" situation.

Binh Quoi Ward People's Committee is accelerating the work of detailed planning at a scale of 1/500 of Binh Quoi - Thanh Da Urban Area.

The new planning project identifies the transport infrastructure system as a pillar, helping the future urban area become an important transit point in the Northeast of Ho Chi Minh City.

There will be 5 bridges connecting the urban area with surrounding areas, including: bridge connecting Hiep Binh ward, directly connected to Pham Van Dong axis to go to Tan Son Nhat airport; bridge connecting Thu Duc ward; bridge connecting Truong Tho area; bridge to An Khanh area (Thao Dien); and bridge connecting to Nguyen Gia Tri street, creating a fast traffic direction to Dien Bien Phu axis.

In addition, a pedestrian bridge is also planned to connect to Truong Tho port urban area.

Not only stopping at the bridge system, the main roads in the urban area are designed with road boundaries of up to nearly 60m, expected to solve the traffic problem that is the biggest "bottleneck" of the area.

Currently, Binh Quoi - Thanh Da peninsula is almost "unique" with the only entrance and exit through Binh Quoi road and Kinh bridge.

Binh Quoi road is about 2.8km long, only 10 - 13m wide but has to bear the entire traffic volume from Thanh Da residential area and riverside eco-tourism areas, leading to prolonged overload. Therefore, the expansion of this road along with the construction of additional connecting bridges is considered urgent.

According to the plan, Binh Quoi - Thanh Da urban area has a scale of about 423ha, with an estimated population of 54,000 people. Of which, about 405ha will be invested in construction, and the remaining more than 17.7ha is for landscape restoration.

The project is oriented to develop into a modern eco-urban area, integrating multi-functional features such as housing, commerce - services, offices, hotels, healthcare, education, culture - sports and tourism. Highlights are a system of parks, green spaces, marinas and riverside eco-zones.

The entire area is divided into 3 residential units. In which, the Northwest area along the existing Binh Quoi road will combine the renovation of the existing residential area with resettlement and social housing, with a scale of about 18,000 people.

The Southern area, opposite An Khanh across the Saigon River, is oriented to become a high-quality residential community with many modern living facilities, with a scale of about 20,000 people.

The Northeast area, bordering Truong Tho, has inundated ecological characteristics, combined with a marina and landscape space, with a scale of about 16,000 people.

Ho Chi Minh City has selected a strategic investor to implement the project with a total capital of about 98,710 billion VND (equivalent to more than 3.74 billion USD).

Currently, Binh Quoi ward is coordinating with the investor to implement preparation steps such as measurement, land inventory, determination of resettlement needs, development of compensation plans and completion of dossiers to issue land acquisition decisions.
