Ho Chi Minh City - Cat Lai - Phu Huu inter-port road to Ring Road 3 and the road connecting Hanoi Highway to Go Cong intersection on Ring Road 3, each route is 12 lanes wide.

These two routes have just been proposed by the Department of Transport of Ho Chi Minh City to be updated in the Transport Development Plan of Ho Chi Minh City to 2020 and vision after 2020 (Plan 568).

12-lane road connecting Cat Lai port

According to the proposal of the Department of Transport, the Cat Lai - Phu Huu inter-port road to Ring Road 3 is about 6 km long, 60 m wide, with 12 lanes. The starting point of the route is on Nguyen Thi Dinh Street, the end point of the route intersects with Ring Road 3 of Ho Chi Minh City. The project will also build a complete interchange at Ring Road 3.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport estimates the total investment for this route at more than VND8,700 billion under the public-private partnership (PPP) model and proposes prioritizing investment before 2030.

According to the Department of Transport, the Cat Lai - Phu Huu inter-port route to Ring Road 3 will create a new dedicated traffic axis, directly connecting the Cat Lai - Phu Huu port system with the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway and Ring Road 3.

This route not only enhances the traffic capacity in and out of the port but also directly connects the inter-regional traffic system including Ring Road 3 and Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway. This will help shorten the journey, facilitate import and export activities through the Cat Lai - Phu Huu port cluster, and support the economic development of the Southern Key Economic Zone and the Mekong Delta.

The route also contributes to improving the regional traffic system, reducing traffic pressure on routes such as Nguyen Thi Dinh, Nguyen Duy Trinh, the eastern branch of Ring Road 2 and Hanoi Highway. Thereby, the traffic congestion at the Cat Lai - Phu Huu port cluster will be completely resolved.

This project also contributes to reducing the traffic of container trucks entering the inner city, creating conditions for the development of new residential and urban areas in Thu Duc City.

Road connecting Hanoi Highway and Ring Road 3

The route connecting Hanoi Highway to Go Cong Intersection on Ring Road 3 is approximately 6 km long, 107 - 120 m wide, with a scale of 12 lanes. The route extends from Station 2 Intersection to Ring Road 3. The project will also supplement the planning of Go Cong Intersection into a 4-level interchange.

The total investment for this project is estimated at over VND8,500 billion, of which the cost of site clearance is about VND4,498 billion. The project is proposed to be invested in the form of PPP, with priority given to implementation before 2030.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport, this project aims to connect Ring Road 3 and Ring Road 2 of Ho Chi Minh City, improve the efficiency of exploiting Ring Road 3 and promote socio-economic development in Ho Chi Minh City.

The project not only supports traffic connection, but also creates momentum for urban development in Thu Duc City, meeting the travel needs of people in areas along the route.
