On January 23, taking advantage of the sunny weather, cargo ships lined up to enter and exit Sa Ky port, delivering goods for Tet to Ly Son island.
Trains continuously come and go, loaded with Tet flower pots such as chrysanthemums, marigolds... Dozens of freelance workers work hard to move the flower pots onto the train, drenched in sweat, but everyone makes constant efforts to promptly deliver goods to the island, helping people celebrate Tet fully.
Mr. Duong Quy, owner of the Muoi Giap ship, shared: "The ship operates at full capacity, every day I transport about 300 pots of various flowers to the island. Besides flowers, there are many other items. Although it rained continuously in the previous days, when the weather cleared up, more goods were brought to the port. Every day I transport about 20 tons of goods to the island."
According to the reporter, the cargo holds of the ships carrying goods to Ly Son Island were fully utilized to store goods. Although the ships were full, the ship owners affirmed that the goods were mainly light items, so the ships were not overloaded.
Sa Ky Port Management Board said that during Tet, the port receives 12 cargo ships to the island every day. To ensure that people can return to the island to celebrate Tet with their families, passenger ships will be increased depending on actual demand.
"With the favorable weather conditions as it is now, we are committed to having no obstacles in bringing people from the mainland to the island. If there are big waves that prevent passenger ships from moving, we will coordinate with the coast guard to bring people back to the island safely," said a representative of the Port Management Board.
Ms. Pham Thi Huong - Chairwoman of Ly Son District People's Committee, said that the authorities have deployed inspections and reviews of goods on the island to ensure that people's needs are fully met. To prevent speculation and price hikes during Tet, Ly Son District has also directed the authorities to monitor and inspect the price posting of traders and agents.
