According to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper at the end of October, the embankment project to protect Suoi Lu I, II, III residential areas (Na Son commune, Dien Bien province) is being urgently implemented by the construction unit.
Accordingly, the project has a total investment of 18 billion VND, which will overcome the landslides caused by natural disasters to protect and stabilize the lives of 286 households with 1,327 people in Suoi Lu I, II, III villages, contributing to adapting to climate change and developing the commune's socio-economy.


The project is invested by the Provincial Management Board of Agricultural and Rural Development Projects. The life of the main project according to the design is at least 10 years.
This is an Agriculture and Rural Development project, group C, level IV, invested with the central budget reserve.
Currently, Doan Thao Dien Bien Construction Company Limited (construction unit) is mobilizing 3 excavators and 18 workers and engineers to focus on constructing items.


Speaking to reporters, the representative of the construction unit said that the project has been implemented since the end of September and is urgently speeding up the progress. "We are determined to complete the project in 2025 according to plan," said the unit representative.
This 18 billion VND project has an investment scale to build a embankment with a length of more than 660m (including works on the route).
Specifically, the shape of the mixed embankment (vertical wall embankment and vertical wall embankment combined with sloped roof); the embankment base is a reinforced concrete stone-built, angular concrete wall with an anti-erosion tray; the embankment slope is 1.5m thick with a structure of the embankment roof made of reinforced concrete girder frame combined with cement mortar. The embankment wall is 2.5m high; the embankment foot is 1.5m high, 0.5m thick; the embankment bottom is 3.2m wide, 0.6m thick.



The works on the route include: 5 locations for up and down steps; 4 locations for embankment locking walls; more than 460m of embankment railing; 6 locations for drainage culverts; reinforcing curved embankment sections with a total length of 247m with stone cages.
Talking to reporters, Ms. Lo Thi Soi (Suoi Lu II village, Na Son commune) said that the flood in early August left people very confused. "We hope that when building a protection embankment project for the residential area, people will feel secure and no longer be afraid of flooding like the last time," said Ms. Soi.
During the flash flood and landslide (from July 31 to August 2, 2025), Na Son commune suffered 155 houses (completely damaged 12 houses due to collapse and flood swept away; 143 houses suffered heavy damage due to landslides and flooding; 93 houses are at risk and need to be relocated). In which, Suoi Lu I, II, III villages are one of the places that suffered heavy damage.
Previously, on June 20, 2025, Mr. Lo Van Cuong - Vice Chairman of Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee - signed Decision No. 1250 approving the economic - technical report on investment in the construction of embankments to protect residential areas in Suoi Lu I, II, III, Keo Lom commune, Dien Bien Dong district (now Na Son commune, Dien Bien province).
