Quang Tri - From a public headquarters that was no longer used after arrangement, facility 270 Hung Vuong was renovated into a school for 900 students.

On September 4, at Phan Dinh Phung Secondary School Branch, Nam Dong Ha ward, the atmosphere of preparation for the 2026 - 2027 school year opening ceremony took place bustlingly.

Hundreds of students in uniforms gathered neatly in the schoolyard to prepare for the opening ceremony on September 5. Inside the classrooms, desks and chairs have been arranged, blackboards, wall fans and some teaching equipment have been installed. Classrooms have many windows, spacious and airy space. A few months ago, this place was still an oversized administrative headquarters, abandoned after the organizational arrangement process.

From old headquarters to new school

According to Nam Dong Ha Ward People's Committee, the land plot at 270 Hung Vuong is 11,003m2 wide, the total floor area of building blocks is more than 6,550m2 and there is a large hall.

After the establishment of Nam Dong Ha ward, the locality reviewed redundant headquarters and at the same time re-evaluated the school network. Through surveys, this facility was identified as suitable for conversion to educational services, especially when the surrounding area does not have many public schools meeting learning needs.

In April 2026, Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee decided to hand over this facility to Nam Dong Ha Ward People's Committee. By May 22, the handover was carried out.

After renovation, the 4-story building is arranged into classrooms, department rooms, administration areas, and libraries. The old hall is renovated into a multi-purpose building of about 500m2. The yard system, fences, gates and connection items have also been renovated.

Mr. Le Vinh Hiep - Principal of Phan Dinh Phung Secondary School said that the branch currently has 12 classrooms, 8 subject rooms and offices of the administration block and hall.

According to Mr. Hiep, the noteworthy point of the new facility is the rows of houses with corridors in the front and back, helping to make the space airy. After arranging, the school arranged about 21 classes with 900 students and 45 officials and teachers at this branch.

Most parents and students are very excited because the new school is spacious, airy and airy" - Mr. Hiep said.

Mobilizing resources to be ready for the opening ceremony

Ms. Le Thi Anh Dao - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairwoman of Nam Dong Ha Ward People's Committee said that immediately after receiving the headquarters, the locality determined that this facility must be put into use from the 2026 - 2027 school year, to avoid leaving public property unused.

The biggest difficulty is time. After receiving it on May 22, the consulting unit had to review the completion dossier, redesign the function from the administrative headquarters to the school and carry out investment procedures.

According to Ms. Dao, the actual construction time is only more than a month. At times, more than 100 workers worked day and night to ensure progress.

The Ward People's Committee has focused budget resources, organized design, bidding, and construction in a short time. The project to upgrade and repair schools was approved with a total investment of more than 13.55 billion VND from the local budget, of which the item of renovating facility 270 Hung Vuong is more than 10 billion VND.

The ward regularly works with the construction unit, urging progress so that the project can be put into operation on schedule on the opening day. This has received great agreement from parents and students" - Ms. Dao said.
