Nghe An - The Ministry of National Defense has mobilized military helicopters to carry out relief missions, bringing supplies to people facing difficulties in flooded areas.

On the morning of July 24, Mi-171 aircraft number 03 piloted by Major Vuong Dinh Long - Captain of Company 1, Colonel Nguyen Ba Duc - Deputy Regiment Commander, Chief of Staff of the Regiment, supporting driver, along with members of the flight crew and rescue forces took off from Hoa Lac airport (Hanoi) carrying rescue vehicles, rescue and goods, dry food, drinking water, instant noodles... to the Central region to carry out flood prevention tasks.

At Vinh airport, two helicopters of the Northern Helicopters Company and Regiment 916 departed carrying dozens of tons of essential goods including food, clean water, medicine, life jackets, etc. that will be released to 5 gathering points in the most severely isolated communes, Muong Xen, Muong tip, Nhon Mai, My Ly and Bac Ly to promptly support people.

At Vinh airport, Lieutenant General Ha Tho Binh - Commander of Military Region 4 directly commanded and directed the transportation and relief work. He requested relevant units to proactively coordinate closely, carefully prepare flight plans, choose safe landing locations, ensure goods reach the right place, the right target.

This helicopter relief activity is an urgent step, in the context of heavy rain caused by the circulation of storm No. 3 causing severe flooding in the West of Nghe An. According to initial statistics, the whole province had at least 3 deaths, 1 missing person and more than 3,800 houses were deeply flooded.

Many key traffic routes such as National Highway 7A were flooded from 0.5 to 1m, making it impossible for vehicles to travel. Some communes such as Nhon Mai, Huu Khuong, Luong Minh, Bac Ly... are isolated, people lack food, clean water and medical supplies.

In addition to the army's efforts, socio-political organizations in Nghe An province are also mobilizing and calling on people and businesses to join hands to contribute and support people in flooded areas to overcome immediate difficulties.
