Speaking to Lao Dong on July 4, Lieutenant Colonel Tran Huu Ich - Commander of the Military Command of Da Nang City - said that the unit is building a helicopter landing ground in Tra Tap commune (formerly Tra Cang commune, Nam Tra My district) with a budget of about 7 billion VND.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Ich, the weather this year is very unpredictable. In June - which is the peak of the dry season - many riverside areas in mountainous communes have experienced heavy rain causing landslides, causing a high risk of isolation in the upcoming rainy and stormy season.
"The areas of communes in the old Nam Tra My district are natural disaster hotspots, prone to landslides and isolation. The construction of the helicopter landing ground will help bring food, necessities, medicine and rescue forces to isolated areas when roads cannot be reached" - Lieutenant Colonel Ich said.

In an urgent manner, the Da Nang Military Command has advised the city's leaders to issue an emergency order to speed up the construction progress, and be ready to serve rescue work in all situations.
Not only stopping at Tra Tap, the City Military Command is also promoting the construction of an additional helicopter landing ground in Hung Son commune (formerly Axan commune, the old Tay Giang district), with a proposed investment of 7-10 billion VND. The project has been surveyed and agreed to coordinate with the 372nd Air Defense Division to ensure access to communes in Tay Giang and Nam Giang in the upcoming storm season.

Previously, in 2022, the Da Nang Military Command built a helicopter landing ground in Phuoc Thanh commune (old Phuoc Son district) with a budget of 5 billion VND. This runway is still effective: it is a food transit point, has a storage warehouse and has been the starting point for rescue flights to areas isolated by landslides and flash floods many times.
These special projects not only demonstrate the proactive response to natural disasters of the local armed forces but also clearly demonstrate the responsibility to serve the people, protect the safety of life and livelihoods of people in remote areas.
