In the neat military uniform, Colonel Vi Xuan Hung meticulously checked the equipment. His eyes lit up with pride when sharing his honor to join the airline performing to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification.
"I was very touched to participate in the performance flight of the 4 fighter jets in Ho Chi Minh City on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the country's reunification" - Colonel Hung confided. Born in 1975, right in the year of national reunification, he felt this was a meaningful coincidence, a great honor in his military life.

Moreover, Colonel Hung also carries a special pride when flying on the old battlefield land, where his father and his teammates fought heroic to gain independence and freedom for the nation. "This is also the motivation for me to continue the tradition of his father who went ahead" - he said, his voice full of determination. He and his teammates enthusiastically practiced, trying to bring the most beautiful and safest performances, contributing to the overall success of the parade, historical parade.
Colonel Hung proudly shared about his father, Mr. Vi Xuan Dung, born in 1948, who participated in the fight in the battlefield of Quang Tri, then went to the South with his teammates. After the merger, he continued to work at the Chemistry Command, Vietnam People's Army.
Throughout his military journey, he always showed his son a deep love for the army shirt and gratitude to the previous generation. Colonel Hung's family has a military tradition. His mother works at the Military Political Academy in Ha Dong. Of the three children, two followed their parents into the army.
"We always tell ourselves that our parents have devoted their entire youth to peace for the country, so our generation must continue to study, practice, maintain the qualities of soldiers and devote all our efforts to firmly protect the beloved Fatherland" - Mr. Hung said.
When asked about the spirit of the whole team in the training process, Colonel Hung said that he himself had the experience of participating in flying in major events such as defense exhibition and 80th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam People's Army. However, this time, the mission of flying four fighters in the 50th anniversary of the unified year has a more sacred meaning and heavier responsibility.
Performing flights is not simple, especially when combining many types of aircraft with different speeds. Some are slow, some are medium, some are fast... requiring the flight commander and the pilot to understand each other to the point of each breath" - he said.
The pilots of the entire company, regardless of the type of aircraft, are all united and enthusiastically trained day and night, even on weekends, to ensure all flights run as safely and successfully as possible.
Colonel Hung shared that his parents fought to liberate the South and completely unified the country. Therefore, in the following generations, he and his younger sister continued to follow the family's family tradition.
"We always try to study, practice, and maintain moral qualities to devote ourselves to the strong army and firmly defend the beloved Fatherland" - he said.
