Lai Chau - Experienced nghiệp vụ dogs are being mobilized to Muong Than.

Just returning from a rescue mission in the earthquake area in Venezuela, two nghiệp vụ dogs Javo and Olas did not have much time to rest but continued to go to Muong Than commune (Lai Chau province) to participate in the search for missing victims due to flash floods.

The severe flood in Muong Than has caused 4 people in Nam Sang village, Team 11 to be swept away by floodwaters.

Faced with the emergency situation, more than 800 officers and soldiers of the police, military and local authorities were mobilized to deploy rescue and relief work and support people to overcome the consequences of natural disasters.

Lai Chau Provincial Border Guard also strengthened forces, and at the same time coordinated with Border Guard Intermediate School 24 to mobilize nghiệp vụ dogs to the scene.

On July 19, Javo and Olas arrived to begin the task of smelling and searching for victims. On July 20, four more nghiệp vụ dogs continued to be mobilized to enhance the search efficiency.

The search area has an area of nearly 20 hectares, the terrain is extremely complex with deep mud and soil, trees lying scattered and many locations buried by soil and rocks up to several meters.

Under the mud layer, there are also countless sharp objects such as glass shards, metal, nails and barbed wire, posing a danger to both task forces and sniffer dogs.

According to Lieutenant Dinh Cao Hong Nguyen - Javo's direct trainer at Border Guard Intermediate School 24, weather conditions are the biggest obstacle for search operations with nghiệp vụ dogs.

When the weather is dry, the smell of the victim's breath may remain in a certain area, creating favorable conditions for dogs to detect.

However, the continuous prolonged rains in Muong Than have dispersed and blurred the steam source, making it much more difficult to smell.

Despite facing unfavorable weather and dangerous terrain, rescue forces and "four-legged soldiers" are still diligently sticking to the scene, hoping to find the victims soon, in response to the waiting of families and relatives.

Javo and Olas are two experienced nghiệp vụ dogs of Border Guard Intermediate School 24.

Before arriving in Muong Than, they have participated in large-scale rescue operations many times, including earthquakes in Turkey, Myanmar, Venezuela and flash floods in Lang Nu (Lao Cai), contributing to effectively supporting search and rescue work.

Entering the fourth day since the natural disaster occurred, officers and soldiers of the Lai Chau Provincial Military Command still divided into many working groups to both continue searching for missing people and help people clean up their houses, clear the flow and overcome the consequences after the flood.

Although their clothes are always covered in mud, soaked in rain, the forces still make unremitting efforts with the desire to help people soon stabilize their lives.

On the morning of July 20, at the Forward Command Headquarters, Colonel Hoang Van Ky - Deputy Commander, Chief of Staff of the Lai Chau Provincial Military Command - directly assigned tasks to the forces before continuing to deploy search and rescue plans in the area.
