Immediately after hearing the news of flash floods and landslides occurring in Muong Than commune, Mr. Phan Van Hoan (residing in Muong village, Than Uyen commune) quickly drove his family's Kubota tractor to the scene to participate in overcoming the consequences.
Over the past few days, despite unfavorable weather and the lurking risk of landslides, Mr. Hoan has constantly leveled soil and rocks, clearing many traffic jams on roads leading to the affected area.

His tractor is also used to transport functional forces and people through fast-flowing floodwater sections, contributing to shortening the time to access the scene, serving search and rescue work.
Sharing about his actions, Mr. Hoan said that he only hopes to contribute a small part of his efforts to help people overcome difficulties soon.
Where people need it, I am ready to be there to support," he shared.
By 1:00 PM on July 19, with the efforts of functional forces and the support of the people, National Highway 32 section passing through Doi 11 village, Muong Than commune - an area heavily damaged by flash floods has been cleared.
This creates favorable conditions for vehicles and rescue forces to access the scene to better deploy remedial efforts.

According to the Lai Chau Provincial Civil Defense Area Steering Committee, the flash flood that occurred on the morning of July 17 in Muong Than commune killed 4 people, injured 7 people and 4 people are still missing.
More than 800 police and military officers and soldiers, along with local shock forces, have been mobilized to participate in search and rescue and overcome the consequences.
Natural disasters caused serious property damage. The whole commune had 13 houses swept away or completely damaged, along with dozens of households who had to be urgently evacuated.

More than 20 hectares of rice have been buried and swept away, of which Muong Than field - the key rice production area of the region - is the most severely affected.
Total damage to housing, production and transportation infrastructure is initially estimated at about 120 billion VND.
While the work of overcoming the consequences is still being urgently implemented, the risk of landslides continues to be high due to prolonged heavy rain.

Local authorities have relocated 219 households with 1,256 people in Noong Thang village to safe places, and at the same time continue to review high-risk areas, focusing on searching for missing people and supporting people to stabilize their lives.
Amidst the great losses caused by natural disasters, the noble gesture of Mr. Phan Van Hoan and many other volunteers has contributed more manpower and resources to rescue work, strongly spreading the spirit of mutual affection in the days when the flood-stricken Lai Chau region struggled to overcome the consequences.
