On July 23, the Vietnam Road Administration just held an online conference to announce the adjustment of the Road Network Plan for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050.
At the Lai Chau bridge point, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Sy Canh and representatives of departments and branches attended the conference.
According to Decision No. 2470/QD-BXD of the Ministry of Construction, the national road infrastructure system continues to be planned in a modern, synchronous direction, strengthening inter-regional connectivity, meeting the requirements of socio-economic development and ensuring national defense and security.
Notably, the Bao Ha (Lao Cai) - Lai Chau expressway (CT. 13) has been adjusted in schedule, and is expected to be prioritized for investment before 2030.
According to the plan, the expressway is about 163 km long, starting point connecting to the Hanoi - Lao Cai expressway in Bao Ha commune (Lao Cai), ending point in the Ma Lu Thang border gate area, Phong Tho commune (Lai Chau).
The route passes through the territory of Lao Cai and Lai Chau provinces, basically parallel to National Highways 279, 32 and 4D.
The project is planned with a scale of 4 lanes, design speed from 80 - 120 km/h.
The system of bridges, tunnels and intersections will be synchronously invested, ensuring connection with the regional transportation network, urban areas, economic zones and border gates.
According to calculations, the project needs about 1,304 hectares of land and a total estimated investment of about 49,200 billion VND. The implementation will be carried out according to a roadmap, based on transportation needs and the ability to balance resources for each phase.
The inclusion of the Bao Ha - Lai Chau expressway in the priority investment list before 2030 is expected to strengthen the connection of the Northwest region, create favorable conditions for trade, socio-economic development and effectively exploit the potential of the Ma Lu Thang border gate area.
