If selling gold, you have to wait for your turn for a very long time, but buying it, the transaction time is faster" - a staff member here said.
According to some people, they were present from noon to get an order number and waited until early afternoon to be able to carry out gold sales transactions. Due to the large number of customers coming to sell, the waiting time lasts from a few tens of minutes to more than an hour. Meanwhile, the gold buying area takes place faster, so congestion rarely occurs.

Representatives of Saigon Jewelry Company Limited (SJC) said that the enterprise still applies the gold purchasing policy at transaction point 418-420 Nguyen Thi Minh Khai (Ban Co ward).
For gold bars, gold rings and processed jewelry products, after completing purchasing procedures, customers will be transferred money immediately on the same day. In case the transaction is after 3 pm or the value is over 500 million VND, it will be paid on the next day.
For diamond and jewelry products, due to the more complex inspection process, the expected purchase time is expected to last from 1-2 days.
Currently, the number of customers is quite large, and it is near the end of the week, so the processing time of dossiers may be extended to Saturday or Sunday" - a SJC representative informed.
Meanwhile, recorded at some other gold trading stores in Ho Chi Minh City, trading activities still took place normally, without any congestion or temporary suspension of transactions.
Notably, the scene of customers tailgating each other to sell gold at the SJC center - the largest SJC store in Ho Chi Minh City, took place just 1 day after the investigating agency continued to expand Project 268V to fight against a transnational diamond smuggling ring.
The Investigation Police Agency of Thanh Hoa Provincial Police has prosecuted 4 more defendants for the crime of "Smuggling". Among them is defendant Pham Thi Hong Duyen (born in 1994), residing in Tan Hung ward, Ho Chi Minh City, Head of Business Department of Saigon Jewelry Company Limited (SJC).
Initial investigation results determined that from 2022 to 2024, Le Thuy Hang, while still holding the position of General Director of Saigon Jewelry Company Limited, agreed and directed Pham Thi Hong Duyen to contact and order smuggled diamonds from Hong Kong (China).
The diamonds were then illegally transported to Vietnam and put into SJC's retail store system for consumption.
At 4:00 PM on July 23, SJC gold bar prices were listed at 135 million VND/tael for buying and 140 million VND/tael for selling. For gold rings, SJC listed at 134-139 million VND/tael (buying - selling).
