According to Lao Dong reporters, on the morning of September 17, Phu Huu BOT station, Thu Duc City, began collecting fees from vehicles entering and leaving Phu Huu port. The ticket price ranges from 14,000 to 110,000 VND/trip, with the aim of recovering capital for the project to build a road connecting Nguyen Duy Trinh to Phu Huu Industrial Park.
At nearly 8am, vehicles gradually poured into the toll station. At this time, two cars from inside came out of the BOT station and parked on both sides of the lane, causing traffic congestion. It is known that the owners of the two vehicles above reacted to the BOT fee collection for vehicles of households entering and exiting residential areas.
Traffic police and Thu Duc City Police were present to handle and regulate traffic through the area. By 9am the same day, traffic congestion at Phu Huu BOT station was still occurring.
From January 1, 2025 to September 16, 2025, vehicles passing through the station will pay higher fees. In particular, the applicable single ticket price is 15,000-120,000 VND. Monthly tickets range from 450,000 VND to 3.6 million VND. Quarterly tickets range from 1,215,000 VND to 9,720,000 VND. After the above period, the toll price will continue to be adjusted with the lowest single ticket price being 17,000 VND and the highest being 133,000 VND. Monthly tickets range from 510,000 VND to nearly 4 million VND; quarterly tickets range from 1,377,000 VND to 10,773,000 VND.
The station will exempt or reduce fees for some groups of vehicles including motorbikes and specialized vehicles such as ambulances, fire trucks, police cars, etc. In addition, cars with less than 12 seats that are not for business, with permanent or temporary residence registration of over 6 months in the area of Nguyen Thi Tu and Dang Thanh Hieu streets are also exempted from fees at the station.
The project of the road connecting Nguyen Duy Trinh to Phu Huu Industrial Park was signed by Ho Chi Minh City with the investor to implement under the BOT (build - operate - transfer) form in 2012. The project has a total investment of about 461 billion VND with a scale of building a road about 2.6km long and 30m wide.
Previously, Ho Chi Minh City has implemented 7 BOT projects, including Binh Trieu 2 Bridge and Road (phase 1) which has finished collecting tolls to recover capital. In addition to Phu Huu BOT, three other projects are collecting tolls, including An Suong - An Lac BOT, Phu My Bridge, Hanoi Highway expansion and National Highway 1.
In addition, in Ho Chi Minh City, there are two other projects in the process of terminating contracts, including: the road connecting Vo Van Kiet to Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong expressway and Binh Trieu 2 bridge and road (phase two).
