The incident happened on October 13, this group of people beat Mr. Lu unconscious on the spot.
Mr. Lu was beaten and hospitalized. He is currently being treated at Hue Central Hospital in a state of intermittent consciousness and injuries all over his body.
Mr. Lu's son said that the reason could be that on October 9 and 10, the Farmers' Association of Ngu Thuy Commune (Le Thuy District, Quang Binh Province) organized a volleyball tournament. Due to poor organization, the teams complained to the Organizing Committee and withdrew from the tournament. Mr. Lu wrote a poem about the volleyball tournament and posted it on Facebook. After that, a group of 8 people came to Mr. Lu's house and assaulted him.
There have been many fights involving social media. Some people just provoke each other with a word, so they take up a knife to settle the debt. As the old saying goes, "words bring blood", provoking each other while sitting around can be ignored, but when it is posted on social media, it is a matter of personal honor.
There have been many cases where, just because of a joke on social media, the provoked person took a knife and killed the other person. There are such ridiculous deaths.
In many cases of school violence, students block the road to fight or enter the school to fight, many of which are caused by verbal exchanges on social networks. At first, the "war" is with words, then it turns into a war with hands, feet, knives and hammers. The school has a headache, the parents are worried and anxious.
Furthermore, from these cross-border platforms, "internet gangsters" appeared, names like Huan "Hoa Hong", Kha "Banh", Phu "Le", Dung "Troc"... Many young people took them as "idols", wanted to become famous quickly, and also tried to appear with impressive "fruits" to post on Facebook. From chaos on social networks to chaos in society.
So, social media is virtual, but its consequences are 100% real.
Returning to the case of Mr. Lu who was assaulted for posting a poem on Facebook, it shows that social media is very dangerous, even adults cannot escape the danger. Fortunately, Mr. Lu's life is not in danger.
This incident is also a lesson for many people, especially young people, in their relationships, speech, and behavior on social networks. Don't think that just because you have a website, you can say whatever you want, criticize anyone, or make up anything.
Many people have been administratively punished for posting false information on social networks. But it is lucky that the government punishes them, the consequences of "social" brothers settling disputes with "internet gangsters" are unpredictable.
Those who attacked Mr. Lu are breaking the law and must be punished. We cannot allow innocent people to be assaulted without the protection of the law.
