Applying powerful AI, Lao Dong Newspaper leads in digital transformation

In the 2024 Press Digital Transformation Picture announced by the Ministry of Information and Communications within the framework of the National Press Conference summarizing the work in 2024 and deploying tasks in 2025, Lao Dong Newspaper ranked first in the group of 10 central press agencies with Excellent digital transformation.

The picture of digital transformation of the press shows that in 2024, 351 press agencies participated in and completed the Training program, guiding press agencies to conduct assessments and measure the level of digital transformation maturity organized by the Press Digital Transformation Support Center directly and online on October 30-31, 2024.

There are 282 units conducting assessment and measurement of the level of digital transformation, including: Central Newspaper Block: 40 units; Local Newspaper Block: 62 units; Central and local Magazine Block: 48 units; Science Magazine Block: 67 units; Radio-Television Station Block: 65 units.

Lao Dong Newspaper leads the Central Newspaper block

The results showed that 28 press agencies achieved the Excellent level (an increase of 6.27% compared to 2023); 65 units achieved the Good level (an increase of 14.99% compared to 2023); 55 units achieved the Fair level (an increase of 6.31% compared to 2023); 25 units achieved the Average level (a decrease of 3.22% compared to 2023); and 109 units achieved the Weak level (a decrease of 24.35% compared to 2023).

Notably, in the Central Newspaper block, there are 10 digital transformation press agencies achieving the Excellent level, including: Labor Newspaper (Vietnam General Confederation of Labor); VnExpress Newspaper (Ministry of Science and Technology); VietnamPlus e-newspaper (Vietnam News Agency); Tin Tuc Newspaper (Vietnam News Agency); Dai De Nhan Dan Newspaper (Office of the National Assembly); Thanh Nien Newspaper (Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union); Nhan Dan Newspaper (Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam); Vietnamnet Newspaper (Ministry of Information and Communications); Journalists and Public Opinion Newspaper (Vietnam Journalists Association); VTCNews e-newspaper (Voice of Vietnam).

In the radio and television sector, 10 press agencies were recognized as Excellent in digital transformation, including Vietnam Television, Nghe An Radio and Television, Voice of Vietnam, Bac Giang Radio and Television, Da Nang Radio and Television, Hanoi Radio and Television, Dak Nong Radio and Television, Hung Yen Radio and Television, Vinh Long Radio and Television, and Ba Ria-Vung Tau Radio and Television.

Assessing the actual level of digital transformation

The above results recognize the outstanding efforts of central and local press agencies in investing and implementing many digital transformation solutions throughout 2024.

Notably, this year's ranking was conducted through the latest set of indicators to assess and measure the maturity level of digital transformation in journalism, which was recently issued by the Ministry of Information and Communications at the end of October 2024. This set of indicators allows for a substantive, objective and fair assessment of the annual digital transformation results of press agencies in the process of implementing the Digital Transformation Strategy for Journalism to 2025, with a vision to 2030 nationwide.

Above all, the set of indicators to assess and measure the maturity level of digital transformation of the press is also used to monitor and evaluate the annual status of digital transformation of press agencies, compare and rank the level of digital transformation of press agencies; compare between years to see the strengths that need to be promoted, the weaknesses that need to be overcome and provide information to support press agencies and related agencies in implementing appropriate digital transformation solutions to complete the goals set in the Press Digital Transformation Strategy to 2025, with a vision to 2030.

The level of maturity of digital transformation of press agencies

The level of maturity of digital transformation of press agencies is determined based on the total score achieved in 5 pillars (Strategy; Digital infrastructure, digital platform and information security; Organizational and professional uniformity; Readers, audiences, listeners; Level of digital technology application) and is ranked from low to high according to the total score achieved, in which the Excellent level is from 90 points or more.
