Ho Chi Minh City - Metro No. 6 (Tan Son Nhat - Phu Huu) is about 22.9km long, passing through 13 wards with 17 stations, including 13 underground stations and 4 elevated stations.
The consulting consortium has just completed a mid-term report on the route direction and location of works on Metro Line No. 6 (Tan Son Nhat - Phu Huu).
According to the research plan, Metro Line No. 6 has a total length of about 22.9km, including 18.7km underground and 4.2km elevated.
The starting point of the line is located in the Truong Chinh street area, connecting to the West with Ba Queo station of Metro Line No. 2 (Ben Thanh - Tham Luong), in Tan Binh ward.
The ending point is Phu Huu station, connected to the Thu Thiem - Long Thanh railway line in Long Truong ward.

Metro line No. 6 passes through 13 wards including: Tan Son Nhi, Tan Binh, Tay Thanh, Tan Son, Tan Son Hoa, Duc Nhuan, Hanh Thong, Binh Loi Trung, Hiep Binh, Thu Duc, Tang Nhon Phu, Phuoc Long and Long Truong.
On the entire route, 17 stations are arranged, including 13 underground stations and 4 elevated stations. The route builds a new Binh Trieu Depot, connected to the route at ST10 station.
Metro Line 6 project has a preliminary total investment of more than 86,529 billion VND, of which compensation, support and resettlement costs are about 18,182 billion VND.
Ho Chi Minh City sets a target to start construction of Metro No. 6 by the end of 2026 and complete it by 2030.
When put into operation, Metro Line 6 will play the role of a ring road, increasing connectivity between peripheral areas, regulating passengers and contributing to reducing traffic pressure in the central area.
In particular, the route connecting Tan Son Nhat airport with Long Thanh airport through the Thu Thiem - Long Thanh railway line creates more railway travel options between the two airports.
