The consulting consortium has just completed a mid-term report on the route direction and location of works on the Thu Dau Mot - Tao Dan Metro line.
According to the research plan, the route is about 32.7 km long (the elevated section is about 17 km long and the underground section is 15.7 km long).
The starting point of the route is at station C1 at the intersection of Hung Vuong - Pham Ngoc Thach (Binh Duong ward) and the ending point at station C23, the intersection of Cach Mang Thang Tam - Nguyen Thi Minh Khai (Ben Thanh ward).
The entire route passes through 18 wards, including Binh Duong, Phu Loi, Thu Dau Mot, Thuan An, Thuan Giao, Lai Thieu, Binh Hoa, Tam Binh, Hiep Binh, Binh Loi Trung, Binh Quoi, Binh Thanh, Gia Dinh, Thanh My Tay, Saigon, Xuan Hoa, Ben Thanh and Ban Co.

The line has a total of 23 stations, including 10 elevated stations and 13 underground stations.
Hiep Binh Phuoc Depot with an area of about 32.7 ha, serving the gathering, maintenance and operation of the train.
Regarding technical standards, the line is researched with basic parameters similar to Metro Line No. 2 (Ben Thanh - Tham Luong).
The project has a preliminary total investment of about 118,598 billion VND. Of which, compensation, support and resettlement costs are estimated at 15,671 billion VND.
Ho Chi Minh City sets a target to start construction of the Thu Dau Mot - Tao Dan Metro line by the end of 2026 and complete it by 2030.
When completed, Thu Dau Mot - Tao Dan Metro will create another urban railway transport line directly connecting the Binh Duong area with the center of Ho Chi Minh City.
The formation of this metro line is expected not only to shorten travel time between areas but also to create motivation for urban, commercial and service development along the corridor, especially in areas with stations and major traffic hubs.
