These days, on many streets in Phan Dinh Phung central ward, images of workers and machinery and equipment deploying sidewalk lane separation have appeared.
Once a hotspot for urban order, sidewalk lane separation in Phan Dinh Phung ward aims to restore walkways for people.

According to the implemented plan, the organization and rearrangement of sidewalk space is carried out on the streets: Hoang Van Thu, Phan Dinh Phung, Luong Ngoc Quyen, Minh Cau, Duong Tu Minh, Bac Kan, Hung Vuong and Viet Bac.
The common point of these streets is that they are all arterial roads, with high density of people and vehicles participating in traffic, concentrating many businesses and services.
On the roads, pedestrian paths are arranged with a minimum width of 1.5 meters, ensuring ventilation and safety for pedestrians.
Roads will also be arranged with parking arrangement plans. In locations where sidewalk width is not guaranteed or is affected by works, localities prioritize allocating space for pedestrians.

Worker Vo Thi Hoi - Thai Nguyen Urban Environment and Construction Joint Stock Company said that the unit is currently deploying lane separation on Viet Bac road.
It has just been completed on Hoang Van Thu street. Workers deploy work in 2 shifts a day.
Sidewalk space will be divided into 3 walkways. One lane is for motorbike parking inside, the middle lane is for pedestrians, and the outermost lane is for car parking," Ms. Hoi said.
Before the sidewalks in the center of Thai Nguyen were deployed for lane separation, people expressed excitement. Ms. Le Thi Lien (Phan Dinh Phung ward) said: "Previously, the sidewalk area was very chaotic, causing difficulties for pedestrians, sometimes having to go down the road.
Lane separation as it is now is very meaningful, prioritizing pedestrians. Hopefully this method will be effective in the long term".

According to Mr. Mai Trong Tan - Chairman of Phan Dinh Phung Ward People's Committee, drawing paint lines is not simply a technical solution but also a long-term urban management solution, aiming to change people's awareness and habits of using sidewalks.
Also according to Mr. Tan, Phan Dinh Phung ward is the core urban area of the province, with great pressure on traffic and business activities.
Clearly defining the function of each sidewalk section will help limit the situation of encroachment on roadways and sidewalks; raise people's awareness of compliance. When static traffic is organized scientifically, dynamic traffic will also be smoother and safer.
