According to data published from the i-Speed platform of the Vietnam Internet Center, in April 2025, the mobile broadband speeds of telecommunications service providers in Vietnam will be improved simultaneously. In particular, Viettel has the best mobile network quality, with download speeds reaching 88.97 Mbps and upload speeds reaching 27.98 Mbps.

In the field of new-generation wireless technology, 5G network quality also made a leap forward in April, with an average nationwide download speed of 354.88 Mbps, while the upload speed reached 94.92 Mbps.
With its strength in technology and investment in network infrastructure, Viettel continues to affirm its leading position in 5G network speed. The average download speed of Viettel's 5G network in April 2025 reached 364.43 Mbps, while the upload speed was 97.6 Mbps, contributing to improving user experience and promoting digital transformation in Vietnam. The military telecommunications company also recorded more than 6.2 million 5G users at present after half a year of launch.
5G conquers large cities
In terms of geography, Da Nang city continues to maintain its leading position in 5G network quality with an impressive average speed of 393.84 Mbps, followed by Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho and Hai Phong affirming the strong development momentum of 5G in large cities.
Previously, according to data displayed from September 2024 (the time Viettel - the first commercial 5G network "to make waves" and officially launch) to February 2025 of i-Speed, the 5G network in Vietnam has a download speed ( download speed) of 187.58 Mbps, an upgrade speed of 34.87 Mbps, 3 times higher than 4G at the same time.

Resolution 57 of the Politburo sets a goal of having an advanced, modern digital technology infrastructure, super large capacity, super wide bandwidth on par with advanced countries, and a nationwide 5G mobile broadband network by 2030. Resolution 193 of the National Assembly mentioned financial support for businesses to quickly deploy 5G. Accordingly, telecommunications enterprises that quickly deploy 5G infrastructure and have at least 20,000 broadcasting stations accepted and put into use from the effective date of the Resolution on February 19 to December 31 will be supported with 15% of equipment costs for the station.
In October 2024, Viettel launched the first and largest 5G network in Vietnam with 6,500 transmission stations, ensuring outdoor coverage of over 90% of the capital area of 63 provinces and cities, industrial parks, schools, airports, seaports, etc. At the same time, it said it has a plan to expand coverage to district centers, where the population is concentrated in 2025, and launch a number of additional features and products in the 5G ecosystem such as: AR/VR, SmartCall, YouTube Premium, etc.
In December 2024, Vinaphone also announced the commercialization of 5G, operating on the 3,700 - 3,800 1,000 frequency band. At the end of March 2025, Mobifone officially announced the provision of commercial 5G services in Vietnam. In the first phase, MobiFone 5G network will be deployed in central areas of major provinces and cities.
Thus, most network operators have officially deployed 5G to realize national 5G coverage according to Resolution 57 of the Politburo. The strong increase in users' 5G needs sets many prospects for the explosive development of 5G in Vietnam.
