Meritorious Artist Mai Chau's real name is Mai Thi Chau, born on January 10, 1927, from Vinh, Nghe An. She passed away at Viet Xo Friendship Hospital due to poor health.

Although she has not been active in the arts for many years, she is still remembered for her classic films of Vietnamese revolutionary cinema.
At the age of 19, Mrs. Mai Chau married Mr. Ky Lan. During the August Revolution in 1945, she joined the women's army of the Fatherland Front and then became a self-defense woman of Vinh city.
At the end of 1945, she and her husband followed the Southern advance army, then participated in artistic work in the Propaganda and Liberation Army Group. In 1947, she became an actress in the Tien Tuyen troupe.
She studied the first acting training course of the Vietnam Film School (now Hanoi University of Theatre and Cinema) and became an official actress of the Vietnam Feature Film Studio (now Vietnam Feature Film Studio) in 1959.
In her acting career, Ms. Mai Chau has participated in films: "Chung mot dong dong" (1959), "Co gai cong gai" (1960), "Chi Tu Hau" (1963), "Di den mai" (1964), "The battle is still ongoing" (1966)...
After the August Revolution, she continued to leave an impression on the audience with villainous roles such as Pho Doan ( film "Sao Thang Tam"), wife Ba Kien ( film "Lang Vu Dai Dai Dai Dai Dai Doan"), Hoang Thai Hau ( film "Long Tri Night Festival")...

Meritorious Artist Mai Chau acted in films until she was over 80 years old. The last film she participated in was "Bi! don't be afraid" by director Phan Dang Di.
She was awarded the title of Meritorious Artist in the early 1990s.
Currently, the family has not yet had official information about organizing a funeral for the female artist.
