Implementing the direction of the Politburo and the Secretariat, with the consent of the Central Propaganda Committee and the Central Emulation and Commendation Committee, from 2015 to present, the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (Vietnam Federation of Associations) has organized a ceremony to honor outstanding science and technology intellectuals four times to recognize and honor intellectuals with outstanding achievements and practical and effective contributions to the cause of industrialization and modernization of the land. water and international integration.
Honoring typical science and technology intellectuals is considered a form of patriotic emulation, with great humanitarian significance, demonstrating the Party and State's care, respect, and treatment for intellectuals, and at the same time It is also to encourage and recognize individuals who have made many outstanding and outstanding contributions to the cause of socio-economic development, national defense and security protection of the country.
Over 5 times, 577 outstanding science and technology intellectuals have been honored. This is a recognition of the research, creativity and encouragement of scientists in the cause of building and developing the country.
The selected typical science and technology intellectuals all have many achievements and outstanding contributions in scientific research, technology development and intellectual mobilization.
This activity has contributed to raising awareness at all levels, sectors and the entire society about the position and role of science and technology intellectuals and the great contributions of the Vietnam Union of Associations system to the cause. build and develop the country.
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Ngoc Linh - Vice President of the Vietnam Federation of Associations, 135 outstanding intellectuals in 2024 have been carefully selected by the Council. Those selected for honor are intellectuals working in research institutes , universities, businesses, agencies of industries, fields, localities, and organizations in the Vietnam Union of Associations system. 10 years or more, has scientific reputation, has many practical and effective contributions, and has influence on the development of the industry, agencies and units; recognized by society, nominated by that agency and unit and introduced by agencies and units of the Vietnam Union of Associations system.
The 5th ceremony to honor outstanding science and technology intellectuals in 2024 will be held on August 28, 2024 in Hanoi Capital.
Among the 135 outstanding intellectuals honored, there are 14 women and 121 men:
- 51 intellectuals nominated by local associations, 54 intellectuals nominated by national industry associations, 28 intellectuals nominated by the Selection Council; 2 intellectuals nominated by the Central Agency of the Vietnam Union of Associations.
- 112 people have academic titles and degrees from associate professor, doctorate and equivalent or higher, 15 people have master's degrees, 8 people have bachelor's degrees and equivalent.
