Within the framework of the working trip to attend the high-level discussion session of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York (USA), on September 22, General Secretary and President To Lam and the high-level Vietnamese delegation visited and worked at Pfizer Pharmaceutical Group, and witnessed the handover ceremony of cooperation documents between Pfizer and VNVC Vaccine Company on improving vaccination capacity and disease prevention for Vietnam.
Towards the goal of improving people's health and quality of life
VNVC and Pfizer are two prominent units of Vietnam and the United States in the fields of health, pharmaceuticals and vaccines. At the document exchange, the two sides expressed pride in the long-term cooperative relationship in the common goal of contributing to caring for and improving the health and quality of life of Vietnamese people.
The two sides shared the desire to contribute expertise, capacity and resources to support Vietnam's health priorities; exchange and explore cooperation opportunities to promote vaccination, strengthen the response readiness of the public health system and contribute to the implementation of Vietnam's long-term health goals.
At the same time, VNVC and Pfizer jointly expressed their appreciation for the leadership and direction of the Government, as well as the continuous efforts in protecting and improving people's health.
Previously, in March 2025, under the witness of leaders of the Ministry of Health, the US Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, VNVC signed a cooperation memorandum with Pfizer to share knowledge and develop capacity in the field of high-quality vaccine production.
Accordingly, Pfizer will support VNVC to improve knowledge to build vaccine factories that meet international standards in Vietnam, aiming for the goal of producing vaccines domestically, meeting domestic demand and gradually participating in the global supply chain.

VNVC is the unit that owns the leading large-scale service vaccination center system in Vietnam with nearly 300 modern centers nationwide. In May 2025, VNVC started construction of a Vaccine and Biological Products Factory according to international standards such as WHO-GMP, EU-GMP and FDA-cGMP in Tay Ninh province, creating a platform to receive technology and gradually build high-quality vaccine production capacity in Vietnam. The project has an area of more than 26,000 m2, initial investment capital of more than 2,500 billion VND, designed capacity of about 100-120 million doses of vaccine per year.
According to the plan, VNVC's factory will aim to complete infrastructure and production lines in the period 2027-2028, gradually receiving processes, technology and developing production capacity, aiming to bring products manufactured in Vietnam to the market from 2029.
VNVC aims to produce the first batches of vaccines from 2028
VNVC Vaccine Company is expanding cooperation with many large pharmaceutical and research corporations and organizations in the world to improve the capacity to produce new generation vaccines in Vietnam such as Pfizer (USA), Sanofi (France), GSK (UK), Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), Gamaleya Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology Research, Binnopharm and Medsintez (Russia)...
Recently, at the Vietnam - France Business Forum held in Paris on September 10, VNVC reported on the progress of actively implementing cooperation in producing the first new generation vaccine in Southeast Asia with General Secretary and President To Lam and French President Emmanuel Macron.
At the event, VNVC and Sanofi also awarded a Joint Statement, identifying the priority of producing three most important new generation vaccines for children and adults, including 6-in-1 vaccine with acellular pertussis ingredients, seasonal flu vaccine and meningococcal vaccine for 4 groups of serum causing diseases A, C, Y, W. According to the cooperation roadmap, the two sides aim to produce the first batches of vaccines from 2028 and put products on the market from 2029.
