On August 10, information from Pu Huong Nature Reserve, Nghe An province said that a case of wild elephants had just appeared near a residential area in Muong Chong commune, damaging some of the people's crops.
Previously, on August 9, people in Manh village, Muong Chong commune recorded the image of a wild elephant coming from the forest to eat trees and crops. Although not attacking humans, the elephants destroyed some crop areas, causing concern for the people.

Mr. Tran Duc Dung - Deputy Director of Pu Huong Nature Reserve - said that this elephant is a female elephant, living alone in the protective forest, quite old and the only remaining child in the area. Many times before, it had gone to corn fields, sugarcane fields, and fruit gardens to make a living.
Every time it appears, it often stays for several hours, even overnight, before returning to the forest, said Mr. Dung, adding that the forest rangers and local authorities have deployed measures to safely repel it, while promoting to make people recognize traces, avoid contact, and protect crops.
