Wild elephant kills 1 person in Dong Nai, police examine the scene

Dong Nai - Police and the Procuracy examined the scene of the incident that was believed to be a wild elephant that killed a resident in Ma Da commune, Vinh Cuu district.

On June 3, Dong Nai authorities conducted an investigation of the scene and determined the cause of Mr. L.V.T (born in 1959, residing in Hamlet 4, Ma Da Commune)'s death due to elephant fighting, in the area of a cajuput plantation and mango plantation about 100m from home, initial information is due to a conflict while chasing away elephants.

Previously, at around 4:00 p.m. on June 2, people discovered a herd of about 4 elephants starting to enter the flower- breeding fields of the people (group 1, hamlet 4, Ma Da commune near Cay Gui Forest Protection Station), bordering the natural forest boundary of Dong Nai Cultural Nature Reserve.

After that, the herd of elephants returned to the natural forest area.

At around 9:00 p.m. on the same day, June 2, the elephant herd continued to enter Mr. T.'s garden in Group 2, Hamlet 4, then Mr. T. chased them away.

At around 6:00 a.m. on June 3, people discovered Mr. T.'s body dead in the area of a tea plantation and mango plantation about 100m from their house and reported to the local authorities, the Forest Protection Department of Dong Nai Cultural Nature Reserve, and the Vinh Cuu District Forest Protection Department.

Currently, the authorities are continuing to investigate and deploy warning measures and prevent conflicts between elephants and people in the area bordering the natural forest.
