Regarding the serious canoe capsizing accident that occurred at noon today in the sea area of Phu Quoc (An Giang province), as of 3:30 PM today, rescue and relief work at the scene has officially closed.
After efforts to race against time, functional forces are urgently moving to the recovery phase and focusing on taking care of the funeral arrangements for the unfortunate victims who died.

As previously reported, the tragic incident occurred at noon on July 11, the canoe numbered AG 26751 of Ocean Pear Island Company carrying 32 tourists, 3 crew members and 1 tour guide from Hon May Rut to An Thoi port. However, just about 400 meters away from Hon May Rut Ngoai, the vehicle suddenly encountered a major incident and capsized, throwing all 36 people into the sea.
Immediately after receiving the news, leaders of the Phu Quoc special zone government and local rescue forces quickly approached the scene.
Thanks to quick reactions and a determined spirit, in the first hours, all victims were rescued in time, brought ashore safely and received active medical care. Up to this point, 15 people have died (13 men, 2 women).
In parallel with funeral arrangements and medical support for the rescued tourists, specialized agencies are also urgently conducting examinations and investigations to clarify the cause of this unfortunate incident.
