As reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, on July 7, a clip appeared on social media recording dozens of people competing to pick up fabric at a plot of land near the cemetery of Dan Hoa commune, Hanoi. The incident caused a stir among the public, many people called it an "odor-prone" act.
According to verification, the truck was carrying about 4 tons of fabric, worth 28-30 million VND, departing from Bac Ninh. When moving to Dan Hoa commune, Hanoi city late on July 6, the car suddenly had an accident and plunged into a field on the roadside. The four people on the car were fortunately only slightly scratched.

Ms. Bui Thi Lich (38 years old, from Phu Tho), the owner of the car, said that she and her two younger siblings hastily called for help to take the car to the garage about 2km from the scene. While repairing the car, all the fabric was moved to the roadside, not yet ready to be collected.
At around 4am on July 7, when returning to the scene, Ms. Lich was shocked to see a lot of people picking up fabric and talking. "Please, guys, this is my fabric," she said and cried, but no one stopped. She had to helplessly watch 4 tons of fabric being taken away.

The leader of the People's Committee of Dan Hoa commune confirmed that an incident had occurred in the area. Because the incident happened in the early morning, many people passing by thought the fabric was gone, so they picked it up and brought it home. There were no human casualties, so the driver did not report to the authorities.
The current price of fabric is only over 10,000 VND/kg, people may find the fabric fresh and delicious so they should take it home and use it, not intentionally smelling it as rumored, he said.
Ms. Lich shared that this is the 4th shipment of goods in this year's fabric crop. Despite the great damage, she still felt lucky because all three people in the car were safe.
